Some effective basic fighting techniques with sticks or similar weapons. Kali sticks, umbrellas, walking sticks, crowbars.
Steps
Step 1. Find the right cane for you
For starters, you can use a broom handle. The cane should be as long as your arm.
Step 2. Practice vibrating the stick in a figure eight
Or draw an X with your strokes, the effect is the same. Use your elbow and shoulder force, not your wrist.
Step 3. Keep the opposite hand away from your body
Unable to hold the staff, your weak hand is your guard.
Step 4. Practice quick strokes and back off, starting from different positions
Over the left shoulder, over the right shoulder, from the left hip. Try to understand from which positions you can make the most powerful hits.
Step 5. Imagine you are fighting an opponent
Step 6. Stand slightly to the side, with your knees bent as if you are about to attack
Make sure you always have a good view around you if you are fighting more than one person.
Step 7. The best places to strike are the head, temples and neck, collarbone, arms, wrists, knuckles, elbows, pelvis and knees
Step 8. Learn to stealth strike
Pretend to hit the left collarbone and hit the knee.
Step 9. Learn to perform a final blow
Perform a strike, then the coup de grace. Try and try again starting with several shots.
Step 10. Practice at different angles
Turn 45 degrees to the left and perform a strike. Do the same on the right. Back off and strike as you are turned sideways, left and right. Then try to move sideways and hit.
Advice
- Hit objects like poles, trees, hanging tires. A pole with a carpet wrapped around it is fine. A tennis ball attached to a string is also fine.
- Learn to carry a secondary weapon like a knife in your weak hand. Practice doing a figure-eight with the stick, back and forth, and then a slash with the knife.
- Learn to perform low kicks (up to the knee). Try kicking with the toe, inside and outside of the foot.
- The same principles can be applied to knife fighting.
Warnings
- Be careful not to kill anyone
- Try not to hurt anyone
- Be aware of the laws
- Don't mess it up
