When you are faced with a challenge or an opportunity in life, do you take a positive or negative attitude? With the former you can make your dreams come true. If you want to improve your attitude towards life or if you have a negative course of action, read on.
Steps
Step 1. Make a list of everything you would do if you weren't afraid
Do you want to dye your hair? Do you want to change city or country? Do you want to quit your job and start following what you love? Do you want to decide for yourself? Whatever it is, write it down.
Step 2. Set a timer for twenty minutes
During this time, write down all the dreams and goals you have. Don't ask yourself if they are possible or if you can do it.
Step 3. Use these two lists to choose from one to three what you would like to accomplish next week or so
Step 4. Start thinking about how you can achieve these goals
Some, like wearing something you've always feared to wear or fight for yourself, don't require as much organization as courage. Others, such as giving up work or moving to another location, require a lot more planning and possibly money to carry them out. At first try the easier things you wrote on your list. Start simple and move on until you gain more confidence to achieve the bigger goals.
Step 5. You can also start planning more important goals
If they need a lot of money, consider how you could move to save money or how to make it by spending less, for example, swapping items to get what you want.
Step 6. Get to work
You need to commit to building your self-esteem and developing a positive attitude. Eliminate the words "can't" from your vocabulary and start figuring out how "you can do it" instead.
Step 7. Try saying "yes" to more things
Instead of avoiding opportunities or convincing yourself that you can't do something, say yes to more things. You should also learn to say "no" more often, if accepting to carry on too many things is one of your problems.
Step 8. Gain self-confidence by working on goals all the time
If you have a negative attitude because you are afraid of what others will think, you will start small. For example, you might try to express your opinion on something trivial or wear something different than usual. As you practice, you will improve, and the more you try to take a positive attitude, the more you can improve yourself.
Step 9. Use your imagination
Imagine that you succeed in your goal. Try to see yourself with a positive attitude and live the life you dream of. If you don't feel safe, you can always pretend you are. This way you will learn what it would be like if you had a positive attitude and gradually gain self-confidence that he can really do it. Pretend until you finally find yourself developing this attitude.
Step 10. Realize that changing attitudes is an ongoing process
It will probably take some time to earn it in all respects, but if you keep working on this, you can do anything.
Advice
- If you like to use your imagination, you might imagine that you are someone who succeeds or who is not afraid to do what they want to do.
- Remember that the attitude you take is a habit, and habits can be changed and learned.
- If you need inspiration, try looking for inspiring quotes or videos that motivate you, or watch, read, hear what interests people who have a positive attitude or who are successful at what they do.
- It might be helpful to consider why you don't have a positive attitude at the moment. Haven't you ever had it or have you always been the kind of person who believed you couldn't do it? If you know there are things that might lead you to believe in yourself, you can use them to motivate yourself. If you are afraid, it can also be helpful to examine why you have this type of worry. Once you understand, you can work to overcome it.
