It is not at all necessary to spend a fortune to buy nail glue, as you just have to follow a quick and easy procedure to make it at home! You will just need a few simple materials that you can find around the house. Afterwards, all you have to do is mix vinyl glue and clear nail polish using the swab of a cotton swab. Then, apply glue to attach a fake nail or fix a broken nail. Let it dry for about 10 minutes and that's it!
Steps
Part 1 of 3: Mix the Ingredients
Step 1. Cut the end of a cotton swab
Get a cotton swab and a sharp pair of scissors. Place the scissors on one end of the swab, roughly where the cotton part begins. Cut off the end and discard it, but be sure to keep the rest of the stick.
This way, you can use it to mix the glue ingredients
Step 2. Pour 250ml of vinyl glue into a bowl
Get an old bowl and measuring jug. Pour the glue into the jug to measure and pour it directly into the bowl. Make sure you pick up any residue that remains on the sides of the jug so that you use all the glue you measured.
You can use both white and clear glue, as the color will not affect how it works
Step 3. Pour 8ml of clear polish into the bowl
First, take a spoon. Remove the cap from the nail polish bottle and pour it into the spoon by filling it halfway. Then, pour the product into the same bowl you put the glue in.
8ml of clear polish equals approximately half of a full-sized bottle
Step 4. Mix the ingredients for 2-3 minutes using the cotton swab
Place the stick by inserting the cotton-free end into the bowl. Carefully mix the vinyl glue and clear enamel until you get a homogeneous mixture. You may need to use the stick to scoop up the mixture residue from the sides of the bowl to make sure you mix the ingredients evenly.
Grab the stick on the side of the cotton
Part 2 of 3: Apply Glue to Nails
Step 1. Apply glue to the entire nail in case you need to put a fake one
Dip the cotton-free end of the stick into homemade glue to pick up a small amount. Start from the cuticle and gently spread the product over the entire nail, up to the free edge. Make even passes to apply the glue well all over the nail.
Avoid using the other end of the swab, otherwise you risk getting small pieces of cotton on your nail
Step 2. Press the fake nail onto the glue for 10 seconds
Place the fake nail on the natural nail and make sure they are well aligned, then press the fake nail firmly for 10 seconds, so that it adheres to the glue. Try not to move your hand while holding the fake nail in place to fix it, otherwise it may slip off.
This will ensure that the fake nail is fixed in the right place
Step 3. If you want to repair a broken nail, spread the glue directly on the affected area
To remedy a broken or broken nail, the glue should not be applied to the entire surface. Simply dip the cotton-free end of the stick into the glue and then apply a thin layer of it to the broken part of the nail.
The glue won't permanently fix the broken nail problem, but it will help keep it attached and prevent it from breaking further
Part 3 of 3: Allow to Dry, Store and Remove the Glue
Step 1. Let the glue dry for 10 minutes
It doesn't matter if you used glue to apply a fake nail or to fix a broken nail - it won't take long to dry properly. Place the hand you applied the glue to on a flat surface. Try not to move it while drying, as this will prevent the false nail from moving or compromising the repair of the broken nail.
In case you have used glue to attach a fake nail, press it gently when you think it has dried to check if it has fixed well
Step 2. Store any leftover glue in a clean nail polish bottle for use on other occasions
If you have a copious amount of homemade glue left, you don't have to waste it at all! Take another clean nail polish bottle and pour the product into it. Then, screw the cap of the brush tightly to close the bottle and make sure the glue does not dry out.
Alternatively, you can clean an old nail polish bottle by soaking it in a solvent and then rinsing it well with water. Let it dry completely before pouring in the glue. Make sure you wash the brush too
Step 3. Soak your nails in nail polish remover for 45 minutes to remove the glue
Removing artificial nails or even the glue itself is easy. Pour the solvent into a bowl and put your fingers in it. Once you have removed the false nails and the glue has dissolved, wash your hands with warm soapy water.
