Do you want to celebrate Christmas by organizing a nice Christmas party? Follow these steps.
Steps
Step 1. Set a date for the party
December is approaching, and everyone will certainly be very busy, so communicating the date in advance is essential.
Step 2. Send invitations in early December or late November, or invite people over by phone or email if you prefer
Request the response to the invitation (RSVP), so you can calculate how many people will attend.
Step 3. Plan your menu several days in advance
Do you want a formal dinner, with all seats, or a more casual buffet? Write a shopping list and stick to it. Prepare as much as possible the day before the party, to avoid last-minute panic. Keep it simple and easy - the last thing you want is to slog around the kitchen while guests are having fun.
Step 4. Prepare the party area
Make sure the area is relatively clean and tidy. Remove any items that might break or get in the way, and remember to put out lots of chairs.
Step 5. Welcome guests
Greet guests at the door. Grab their coats and lead them into the party room. Make introductions if guests don't know each other, and start the conversation. Delegate the organization of drinks to one of the guests, if someone is particularly shy, this will be a good way to break the ice.
Step 6. Put on the music
Music is essential to set the mood of the party. Have some CDs ready, but don't play them too loud as people need to be able to chat.
Step 7. Organize games
Charades or other lively games are famous for spending time together as a family, while a more adult game will be suitable for more sophisticated encounters. Have plenty of pens, pieces of paper, and balloons on hand just in case.
Step 8. Enjoy
As you are the host, people will take you as an example to set the mood. If you're stressed out, guests won't relax. Likewise if you have fun - they will follow you.
Step 9. Give the children something to do
Especially if you have children, let them invite friends. You will keep them busy so you can have fun with your friends. Just give them something to do.
Advice
- Decorations are always a good idea. They don't have to be expensive or too laborious - two rows of fairy lights instantly create a festive mood. Trays of nuts, oranges and colorful sweets are beautiful to look at and doubles as snacks.
- For an intriguing touch, leave some half-hidden Christmas toys or crackers around the room. You can use them in a game later, or they can just entertain older kids and teens.
- 'The more the better' is not always true. You have to consider factors such as the size of the room, amount of food, etc. So make sure you invite a fair number of people.
- Christmas music makes the party fun!
- To have a more fun party, ask guests for their favorite type of Christmas food / dessert.
- Make sure guests have plenty to drink. If you want to serve wine, you should have at least one bottle for every two people.
