Here is a simple tutorial for drawing an elephant.
Steps
Method 1 of 4: Cartoon Elephant
Step 1. Draw a circle and a large oval attached to it
Step 2. Draw the elephant's trunk with curved lines and the C-shaped ears in reverse
Step 3. Trace the paws with parallel lines
Step 4. Make the eyes with small circles and outline the eyebrows with short strokes of pencil. Make the elephant's tusks with curved lines and mark the trunk
Step 5. Following the sketch, go over the head and ears
Step 6. Still following the sketch, go over the body and legs
Step 7. Add the tail with two curved lines and a tuft of hair at the end. Make elephant nails with small arc lines
Step 8. Delete unnecessary lines
Step 9. Color the drawing
Method 2 of 4: Simple Elephant
Step 1. Draw three intersecting circles. Join them with a shape that looks like a membrane
Step 2. On the first circle draw the elephant's trunk and ears, fanned out
Step 3. Trace the legs with slanted lines
Step 4. For the eyes use arched pencil strokes. Just below the trunk draw the animal's fangs
Step 5. Refine the details of the ears and trunk
Step 6. Draw the elephant's body based on the guidelines you drew earlier, adding the tail as well. Don't forget to draw small arches for the nails
Step 7. Make scattered pencil strokes all over the elephant, especially in shaded areas
Step 8. Delete unnecessary lines
Step 9. Color the drawing
Method 3 of 4: Elephant: Front View
Step 1. Draw a medium sized circle and add a large oval for the head
Step 2. Draw two arcs that pass through the intersection points of the circle and oval, plus a wavy line on the underside of the circle to create the proboscis
Step 3. Draw the elephant's tusks and trunk
Step 4. Draw the ears starting from the intersections at the top of the oval and circle
Step 5. Add all the details of the elephant's face
Step 6. Color
Method 4 of 4: Chibi-style elephant
Step 1. Draw a medium sized circle and add a large oval for the body
Step 2. Draw two pear-shaped ovals starting from the halfway portion of the circle towards that of the oval
These will be the elephant's ears and is ideal for drawing a baby elephant.
Step 3. Draw the elephant's eyes in the center area of the circle
Step 4. Draw the trunk and eyebrows
Step 5. Draw half portion of the legs using "U" shaped lines
The other halves of the legs look more like rounded squares.
Step 6. Add the details for the legs and draw the other side legs as well using the front legs as a guide
Finally add the tail.
Step 7. Trace the outlines with a pen, erase unnecessary lines and add small details according to your preferences
Step 8. Color
Cartoon style elephants can be of all colors. Try what you prefer.
