In the confusion of a move, it is important to remember to notify your personal, business, and even local and government contacts of the change of residence. Check out this guide to learn how to do it.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Write a Change of Residence Letter
Step 1. Make a list of all your contacts
As soon as you're sure you're moving, start making a list of important contacts. Keep all the mail you receive aside so you don't forget anyone.
Step 2. Start with a template
Use one like this for your change of residence letters. Keep the template clean and the content simple.
Method 2 of 3: Personal and Business Contacts
Step 1. Notify relatives and friends that you are moving
There are many ways to communicate your move to your social contacts. If most of them have an email contact, you can send a group email with the new information - it's less personal, but more effective and faster. If you're having a housewarming party, add the address to the invitations so family and friends remember to write it down. Or, you can print out postcards with your new address and mail them - no need for a formal letter for friends and family.
Step 2. Notify your business contacts
If most of these contacts have email addresses, write a concise and personal letter asking them to update your contact information. You can use the template above to notify individual contacts of the change of residence. If you have your own business and have customers, it's a good idea to print out postcards with the new information and send it to everyone. Don't send a handwritten note to a business contact, unless you also know them personally.
Step 3. Notify your bank that you have changed your address
If you use home banking, you can probably do it yourself online. Otherwise, go to the branch with an identity document. Change the address for all the services you use at the bank, from checking accounts to credit cards.
Step 4. Check your invoices
Most bills, from credit cards to bills, usually have a space on the back to communicate any change of residence. Check and make the necessary communications.
If the move falls before the next bill is received, contact the various companies by phone. You can find the toll-free number on your bill or you can search for it online. Keep a document handy in case they ask you to confirm your identity
Step 5. Update your various subscriptions
From magazines to the RAI license, it is usually possible to change your address online. You will need a customer number. If you can't do it online, you can always call.
Step 6. Warn the doctors following you
Notify the change of residence to all doctors and specialists who follow you, from the family doctor to the dentist. You can also do it over the phone if you prefer. If you have an identification code as a client / patient, remember to specify it.
Method 3 of 3: Government Contacts
Step 1. Mail
Give the address to redirect your mail to at the post office counter in your new city. This is the service.
Step 2. Contact the DMV
To update the change of residence on the documents of your vehicle (certificate of ownership or complementary sheet and registration certificate) you must contact the offices of the Municipality. The service is free, upon presentation of an identity document, the details of the driving license and the license plate of the vehicle, and the application form distributed at the Municipality which must, in part, be kept together with the circulation documents, for any road checks up to upon arrival by post of the update slip of the registration certificate.
Also remember to update your voting card. It will be the Municipality where you move to that will have to give you a new card, subject to the withdrawal of the previous one. In the event of a change of residence within the same municipality, you will receive an update coupon to be applied to the card. Remember, if you have not yet received the card at your home, you can go to the Electoral Office of your Municipality of residence and collect it by presenting an identification document
Step 3. Tax
The change of address must be communicated to the Revenue Agency of your city. website.
Step 4. ASL
If the change of residence takes place in the territory of the same local health authority, no communication is required, in the event of a change of area or city it is instead necessary to go to the local health authority to choose the general practitioner, with a certificate of residence and health card. Check on the internet if you do not know the area of competence of your ASL.
Step 5. Contact your custodian
If you are currently on probation, or appear on a sex crime registry, you must notify the judge of the new address. Make sure first that you are allowed to leave a certain jurisdiction. Search for information on the website of the Ministry of Justice.
Advice

- If you close supply contracts with the move, for example telephone or cable TV, contact the company in advance to communicate exactly when to stop or transfer the service. Make sure you get your latest bill at the right address and pay it.
