From time to time it happens to have muscle pain, a bruise or a sprained ankle. It is a good idea to always keep a cold pack ready in the freezer. Gel ones are available at the drugstore, but you can make one yourself pretty quickly and easily.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Create the Pack
Step 1. Combine the ingredients
Put 240 ml of water with 120 ml of non-food alcohol in a watertight freezer bag.
Step 2. Seal the bag
Make sure there are no leaks.
Step 3. Put the bag in the freezer
Let it cool for at least 3 hours before using it. Note: since alcohol keeps the water in liquid form, the mixture will not freeze, but will become very cold.
Method 2 of 2: Using the pack
Step 1. Apply it to painful or swollen areas, bruises and scratches as needed
Step 2. After each use, return the bag to the freezer for future needs
It should last for at least several applications.
Advice
- You can add a couple of drops of blue food coloring to give your wrap the right look. It is also advisable to label it, to prevent someone ingesting it by mistake.
- Use two bags, one inside the other, to prevent leaks. In this way the pack lasts even longer.
- When you have filled the bag, make sure you have not put in too much solution, to prevent it from bursting when you squeeze it.
Warnings
- Do not apply it directly to the skin as it may damage it. Interpose a fabric.
- Do not heat this compress. It is designed only for cold therapy and could release toxic vapors if you heat it.
