Roti is a type of flat bread, similar to piadina, very common in India and for which many varieties of flour are used. There are many techniques to prepare it. This tutorial describes the procedure to follow to use a specific heating plate. It's not complicated at all and saves you time and effort.
Ingrediants
- Hand made flour dough
- Dry wheat flour
- Butter
Steps
Step 1. Place the heating pad on a table
Step 2. Turn it on by inserting the plug into the socket
Step 3. Arrange the hand-kneaded dough and wheat flour on the table, in separate containers, so as to have them close at hand near the plate
Step 4. Take a portion of the dough and hold it in the palm of your hand
Step 5. Shape the dough into a ball using both hands
Step 6. Put it in dry flour
Step 7. Gently press the ball with your fingers to create a disc
Step 8. Flour both sides of the disc
Step 9. Place the dough disc in the plate
Step 10. Close the appliance lid
Step 11. Keep some pressure on the lid and close it with the lever to lock it for a few seconds
Step 12. Unlatch the lever
Step 13. Lift the lid

The disc of dough has become a thin roti resting on the lower surface of the plate.
Step 14. Wait and watch the roti swell
Step 15. Turn it over to the other side
Step 16. Wait a few seconds
Step 17. Close the lid gently

The roti will swell and detach from the plate. This means that it is perfectly cooked.
Step 18. Remove it from the soleplate
Step 19. Spread it with butter
Step 20. Serve with curd
