Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is one of the classic GTA games, playable on many platforms. In the game, you can create a gang and recruit members to help you complete missions and attack your enemies. Doing so is very simple. Once you have earned enough Respect in the game, you can start recruiting.

Steps

Step 1. Learn how Respect works

You gain and lose Respect as you progress through the game, and this is one of the hardest stats to raise. You can do this in many ways. Below you will find how the Respect bar is divided:

  • Respect Variable 40%
  • Mission Completion: 36%
  • Conquered territories: 6%
  • Total money: 6%
  • Muscles: 4%
  • Progress with the girl: 4%
  • Appearance: 4%

Step 2. Buy respect by taking action

40% of the Total Respect comes from the Variable Respect category. These are actions you can take in the game that increase or decrease the total. Below you will find these actions. Remember that they only affect Variable Respect, which represents 40% of the Total:

  • Killing a drug dealer: +, 005%
  • Kill a rival gang member: +.5%
  • Kill a Grove Street gang member: -.005%
  • One of your gang members dies: –2%
  • Conquering a territory: + 30%
  • Losing a territory: –3%

Step 3. Increase Total Respect to acquire the ability to give orders to gang members

Total Respect increases by completing missions, earning money, training and dressing well. As this trait increases, you will gain the ability to give orders to more gang members.

  • 1%: 2 members
  • 10%: 3 members
  • 20%: 4 members
  • 40%: 5 members
  • 60%: 6 members
  • 80%: 7 members

Part 2 of 4: Recruiting Gang Members

Step 1. Find some Grove Street gang members

You will find them near the starting area and in the territories conquered by the Grove Street gang. You will recognize them by the green dresses.

Step 2. Aim for the gang members

You will have to point the weapon at the members to be recruited.

  • PC: right mouse button
  • PS2: R1
  • Xbox: RT

Step 3. Press the Recruit button

After targeting a gang member, press the recruit button to join you. Remember, you can recruit as many members as your Respect level allows.

  • PC: Press G. You may have changed this setting when you set up your controls, so check the Settings menu if that's not the right button.

Step 1. Get gang members to help you in a car shooting

Members who follow you will automatically try to enter your car. Get a four-seater car for more firepower. Drive close to enemies and your teammates will start shooting automatically.

If you are followed by more than three gang members, you will only be able to take them with you in a bus and they will not be able to shoot all of them out of the windows

Step 2. Hang out with your gang members

They will follow you, but they will be slower than you. Recruits will automatically shoot anyone who attacks you and shoot cops and rival gang members on sight. Make sure you don't leave them behind if you're in a hurry.

Step 2. Start conquering territories

By doing this you will earn money and you can have fun with shooting. Territories you control are safer to cross, and rival gang members will be replaced by your own. Check the map for colored neighborhoods, which indicate that they are occupied by rival gangs. Darker areas of the map indicate greater resistance, while lighter areas indicate lighter.

  • Viola - Ballas
  • Yellow - Los Santos Vagos

Step 3. Gather your recruits

Ask to follow all recruits granted by your Respect level. They aren't great in combat, but they will distract enemies who won't just focus their fire on you.

Step 4. Kill three rival gang members in the colorful neighborhood

To start a Neighborhood Battle, you will need to kill three rival gang members while inside the colorful neighborhood. Finding three members in dark-colored neighborhoods won't be difficult, but it can be difficult in light-colored ones. One trick is to stand in a light colored neighborhood and shoot towards a dark colored one.

Step 5. Fight off waves of rival gang members

Once the battle has started, the neighborhood will start flashing on the map. Rival gang members will appear in three waves of increasing difficulty. You will have to defeat all three waves to take control of the neighborhood.

Find a high point that allows you to easily shoot in the street. It will be easier to avoid being surrounded

Step 6. At the beginning of the game, don't worry too much about conquering the territories

Without too much story teasing, you won't be able to complete neighborhood battles in the central part of the game, and all progress made will be canceled. Worry about gang battles as soon as you get the chance to lead them, only if you need the money.
