Candy Crush Saga is a sweet themed game very similar to Bejeweled, in that they both serve similar purposes and are engaging. Once you start playing, it's hard to stop. Here are some steps you can take to get started, whether you're playing on your smartphone or on Facebook.

Method 1 of 2: The Basics
Step 1. Familiarize yourself with the game plan
When you start a game, you will see the game board in front of you covered in candy. Do you see that the candies are all arranged on a gray background? The gray part defines the area where these can be. You will only be able to move them to that area (so if there is a hole in the playfield, you can't pass the candy through it).
- At the top you will also see your bonuses (more on that later), and the points goal for that game.
- Below, or to the side, you will see Moves with a number. This is the number of moves you can make before the game is over. In fact, the game does not end when you have reached a certain score, but when you have finished the available moves or have reached the goal of the game.
- You will also see the score bar. Each time you take out candies (as discussed below) you earn points. These points help you progress through the levels. If you don't earn enough points to complete the level, you lose a life. If you lose too many lives you will have to wait for them to fill up again. You can see how many you have left on the main screen, the one that shows you all the levels.
Step 2. Match 3 or more candies
To play you must move the candies in any direction (as long as it is not blocked) and match the same candies in groups of 3 or more. When you match them, the candies will be eliminated, causing the ones on top to move and allowing you to make other combinations. If you match 4 or 5 candies, you create special candies. These work in different ways.
- If you combine 4 candies, you create a special candy, the striped candy, which, when paired with at least 2 others of the same color, eliminates a row or a whole column of candies.
- If you match 5 or more T-shaped or L-shaped candies, you create a wrapped candy. Wrapped candies explode twice, eliminating all candies around them in a 3x3 radius.
- If you match 5 candies that are all lined up, you create a colored bomb. The colored bombs look like chocolates sprinkled with colored sugar grains. When you trade them with a nearby candy, they eliminate all candy of that color. There is no need to combine them with others to use them. Choose carefully the color of candy to eliminate.
- You can also combine special candies with each other, achieving different effects. If you combine a striped candy with a wrapped candy, you get a giant candy, very powerful because it eliminates a lot of sweets.
Step 3. Use boosters
You can get some at the beginning of the game. At any time, however, you can buy them by paying with real money. Boosters are aids to use, for example, to pass certain levels that you just can't complete. Don't waste them though, because you can't know when you'll need them again. Use a little strategy.
There are boosters that increase the number of moves available, boosters that eliminate a candy of your choice (the lollipop hammer), boosters that shuffle all the sweets on the screen, and many more. You will be told how to use them when you earn them, although most of them are for purchase
Step 4. Reach the level goal
Each level has a specific purpose, which can be to reach a specific number of points, destroy particular elements (for example jellies), or make the ingredients go down.
Step 5. Go on with the levels
You will play different groups of levels, each with a different game plan and goal. The game is divided into groups of 15 levels. To progress to the next group you need to get 3 tickets, either by asking your Facebook friends or by purchasing them.
Method 2 of 2: Strategies to Win
Step 1. Eliminate difficult or dangerous candies right away
There are elements, such as bombs or chocolate, which should always be eliminated first, otherwise they will hinder you and make you lose. The bombs explode causing the game to end after the number of moves indicated by the number on them, while the chocolate expands if you do not eliminate it.
Step 2. Pay attention to the edges of the game board
There will be many levels where the plane will not be a perfect rectangle, or it will have holes in it. You will have to devise a way around these obstacles, otherwise they will make it extremely difficult for you to match the candies.
Step 3. Shuffle the candies on the screen if their arrangement seems too complicated
Once you become more proficient in the game, you will be able to recognize right away if you need to shuffle the candy. You can use a booster or exit the level before making moves and starting it again.
Step 4. Get your friends to play
The best strategy to progress is to have a lot of friends playing. Candy Crush is a social game, so you will be at an advantage if you have friends, who can give you boosters and keep you going in the level groups.
Step 5. You may very well ignore the game's hints
If you wait too long to make a move, the game will suggest one. However, the suggested moves are random, so you don't usually want to do them. If you don't have a time limit, study the candy carefully to find the best moves. If, on the other hand, you're just trying to get as many points as possible before time runs out, then you can also follow the game's tips.
