This article explains how to mute and clear a Discord channel on an Android device. Since it is not possible to leave a channel on Discord, the following options can be useful alternatives.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Mute the Channel
Step 1. Open Discord
The icon looks like a white joystick on a purple or blue background. It is usually found on the home screen or in the app drawer.
While it's not possible to leave a channel, muting it is an effective way to keep it from distracting you
Step 2. Tap ☰ at the top left
Step 3. Select the server hosting the channel
Server icons are listed on the left side of the screen.
Step 4. Tap the channel name
Step 5. Tap ⁝ at the top right
Step 6. Tap Channel Settings
Step 7. Swipe the "Mute Channel" button to activate it
The button will turn blue. You will no longer receive notifications about channel activity.
Method 2 of 2: Clear the Channel
Step 1. Open Discord
The icon looks like a white joystick on a purple or blue background. It is usually found on the home screen or in the app drawer.
- If you delete a channel, no one else will be able to use it;
- To be able to delete a channel, you must be a server administrator.
Step 2. Tap ☰ at the top left
Step 3. Select the server hosting the channel
Server icons are listed on the left side of the screen.
Step 4. Tap the channel name
Step 5. Tap ⁝ at the top right
Step 6. Tap Channel Settings
Step 7. With the settings page open, tap ⁝ at the top right
Step 8. Tap Delete Channel
A confirmation window will open.
Step 9. Tap Delete
The channel will be deleted from the server.
