The most important thing to understand what you want or what you are worth is to discover your abilities. What you know and who you are are encapsulated in your talents and the natural gifts you possess.
Steps
Step 1. Fill out some language assessment tests
There are many free "external" self-assessment tools that you can find on the internet. While none of these are perfect, each one can help make you understand the types and themes where you are strongest.
Step 2. Reflect on the survey / test results
Do you agree with the outcome that emerged? Do people who have known you for some time agree with these results? Are they meaningful to you? Have you discovered something you have never noticed before?
Step 3. Observe what people think of you
Who are your closest friends? What you value in them could be of great help in understanding yourself more.
Step 4. Set your goals
Find ways to use your new self-consciousness to make your life better.
Step 5. Observe your point of view
What attracts you the most in a discussion? Are you for or against … the topic under discussion? Try to find out if the opinion of others interests you and if it can help you find an answer in a given situation. Are you an extrovert? A loner? Maybe you have the ability to attract the consent of others? A leader? A charismatic? It is useful to know all this about you.
Step 6. Use your strengths to solve problems
If there is something you don't want to do, think about how you can use one or more of your skills to face the challenge. Solving a problem using your strengths is a lot more fun (and less stressful) than tackling it from a perspective that highlights your weaknesses.
Step 7. Follow your passions to make the most of your skills
What stimulates your creativity? Surely you already know what you like. When you watch a good movie do you just want to have fun or even keep a critical sense? Maybe you have leadership qualities and maybe an eye for cinematography.
Step 8. Cultivate the qualities you already have
Sign up for a class, get involved in a project, help someone else, and teach them your hobby… these are all great ways to showcase your strengths and nurture your talents.
Step 9. Be positive
The opinion you have of yourself has a strong influence on your ability to move forward. History is full of inventors and entrepreneurs who have exploited their strengths in a positive way. Just because you don't believe you're good at something doesn't mean you're not really qualified. Just because someone else has more skills doesn't mean you lack talent. Do not underestimate your abilities with a negative opinion of yourself.
Step 10. Adjust and compromise
Skills and strengths can change, and they don't necessarily last forever. Give yourself the opportunity to develop new skills and take on a new challenge. Any skill or competence can be improved.
Advice
- Tune into meditation or prayer. A little peace of mind can help clear up any doubts you may have about your abilities.
- Start using sentences that start with "I can do it…." or "I'm very good at …"
- Use the skills you have and keep a balanced attitude regarding your skills and strengths. (Avoid extreme mood swings, etc.)
Warnings
- Use your skills only for good. They were given to you for a purpose and should only serve to help others and yourself.
- Be open. If you discover something you didn't know, teach someone how to do it right.
- Don't let the opinions of others affect you. The goal is to discover the truth about yourself, so ask yourself specific questions based on facts, not on subjectivity.
