Playing your files with a media player can sometimes be boring if you can't see the cover. The music and video files you buy online have covers that appear when you play them. But some files, like the ones you create, don't have them. Winamp media player is not only capable of playing music and video files, it also allows you to edit the information of your files, including the cover art.
Steps
Part 1 of 2: Getting Winamp
Step 1. Download the Winamp installer
You can go to the official website (www.winamp.com) and download the installer from there.
You can find the installer from other sites, but it is strongly recommended to download it directly from the official site, to avoid any malware
Step 2. Install Winamp on your computer
Double click on the installer to start the installation.
Part 2 of 2: Adding a Cover to an Album
Step 1. Open the application
Once the installation is finished, click on the program icon on your desktop.
Step 2. Add the media files to your library
Select the files you want to add and drag them into the Winamp Local Library window.
Step 3. Find the "Cover" tab
Right click on the item you want to add a cover to. From the context menu, click on “View File Info” to open the File Info window of the item.
Step 4. Choose the "Cover" tab from the options
Step 5. Add a cover
There are two methods to do this:
- Edit / Upload Cover - click on this button and find the image you want to set as cover (it will have to be saved locally on your computer). Select the image and click "Open".
- Copy / Paste Cover - search the internet for the image you want to use as a cover. Right click on the image and select "Copy Image" from the menu that appears. Go back to Winamp and click on "Paste" or "Paste Cover" to add the image you just copied.
Step 6. Save your changes
Click on “Okay” to save the cover.
Advice
- To remove the cover, simply click the "Delete" button.
- The Edit / Upload Cover option only works with images saved locally on your computer.
- The Copy / Paste option only works when you copy images from the network without saving locally.
- Covers are integrated into your media files. This means that adding a cover increases the file size. The increase in size depends on the quality of the image used.
