GarageBand is a very fun application that allows its users to create music, learn to play an instrument and much more. However, using this application can also become very frustrating if you don't know it well. The following steps will teach you how to create a simple song with GarageBand, hoping it will serve as a stimulus to get better and better!
In this article, you will learn how to compose simple songs with no lyrics, more like a rhythm. These beats can be used for fun or included in other projects (slideshows, home movies, etc.). Learning to create a simple song with GarageBand requires no special musical skills. All you have to do is listen to the different samples and pair the best ones together.
Steps
Step 1. Open GarageBand
A window with a new project will appear. Select the “Song” project under the “New Project” tab.
Step 2. Name the song
You can also leave the field blank and give it a name later. Leave the “tempo”, “clef” and other settings unchanged unless you are able to change them.
Step 3. Press “Create”
At this point you should see an empty GarageBand project similar to this one.
Step 4. Click on the “View / Hide Browser Loop” button at the bottom left (it looks like an eye)
This way you can choose instruments and samples to mix to create a song.
Step 5. Select a drum set for the song
Click on the "All Percussion" button and scroll through the available kits. You can also narrow your search and click on the illuminated buttons to find the precise type of percussion you are looking for. To hear the sound of each percussion, click on it. Once you find the set you want, drag it to the center of the screen to insert it into the timeline.
You can copy a drum set (or any other instrument / music) and paste it to quickly create longer songs
Step 6. Click on the “Play” button to listen to the drums
At this point, add the guitar as well. Click on the "Reset" button with the double arrows pointing back and select the "Guitar" tab. Again, you can narrow your search to search for a specific type of guitar. Once you've selected the one you're interested in, drag it to the timeline above or below the drum line.
Create a combination of tools and spatial as needed on the timeline
Step 7. Select a third tool to add to the timeline
Drag it and adjust it so that it goes in time with the other tools.
