This article explains how to delete the data that is stored by Safari relating to web browsing and the history of the pages visited. You can delete website data only or delete all history and other data in memory. If you want to remove only some specific data from the history, you will have to do it manually item by item.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Delete Website Data
Step 1. Update the iPhone or iPad if necessary
A bug has been detected in some versions of iOS that prevents website data from being deleted from the iPhone or iPad memory, even if the full format is performed. To avoid this kind of problem, make sure your device is updated with the latest version of iOS.
Step 2. Launch the Settings app
of the device.
It features a gray gear icon. Normally it is visible on the Home of the iPhone or iPad.
Step 3. Scroll down the menu that appeared to be able to select the Safari option
It is listed in the middle of the menu.
Step 4. Scroll down the page and select the Advanced option
The latter is located at the bottom of the "Safari" menu.
Step 5. Select the Website data item
It is located at the top of the page that appeared. The list of website data currently stored in the device will be displayed.
Some items in the list will report the value "0 bytes" meaning that the size of this data on disk is so small that it is not measurable
Step 6. Scroll down the list and hit the Remove All Website Data button
It is characterized by the writing in red and is located at the bottom of the page.
Step 7. Press the Remove Now button when prompted
All data stored in the list will be removed and the menu will reappear Advanced.
Step 8. Tap Website Data again
It is listed at the top of the page. The menu of the same name will be displayed. You will notice that some entries have not been deleted from the list.
If there is a button at the bottom of the page Show all sites, press it before continuing.
Step 9. Swipe your finger on an item in the list from right to left
The button will appear Delete to the right of the selected item.
Step 10. Press the Delete button
It is red in color and is placed to the right of the item you have chosen. This will remove the corresponding data from the list.
Step 11. Repeat the previous step for any entries still present
Unfortunately, this is the only way to be sure that the data in question is actually removed from the device and does not reappear in the list when you close the Settings app. Only by deleting the leftover data in the manner indicated will you be certain that it will not reappear in the "Website Data" screen by closing and starting the Settings app again.
