Ingrediants
Vegan Moisturizing Hair Mask with Maple Syrup
- 1/2 avocado
- 1 banana (peeled)
- 3 tablespoons (45 ml) of almond milk
- 2 tablespoons (30 ml) of pure maple syrup
- 3 tablespoons (45 ml) of extra virgin olive oil
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Make a Vegan Maple Syrup Moisturizing Hair Mask
Step 1. Mash the banana with the avocado
Place half an avocado and a whole peeled banana in a medium-sized bowl, then mash and mix the two fruits with a fork. Continue to mash and mix until the mixture is smooth and uniform.
If you have very long hair, you may need to double the doses of all the ingredients to get enough mask
Step 2. Incorporate the other three ingredients
Measure the almond milk, maple syrup and extra virgin olive oil, then pour them into the same bowl in which you mashed the avocado and banana. Mix the five ingredients with a spoon until they are perfectly blended.
You need to make sure that the maple syrup is pure and natural. Some products may contain other additives, such as high fructose corn syrup, which do not guarantee the same beneficial effect on the hair
Step 3. Apply the mask
Take a small amount with your fingers directly from the boule and start distributing it on the hair. Continue until they are completely impregnated. To make sure you distribute it evenly, you can use a wide-toothed comb.
This mask can be applied either on wet or dry hair
Step 4. Let it sit for 15-20 minutes
Check once again that your hair is completely soaked, then twist it and collect it over your head with the help of some bobby pins. As the minutes pass, the mask will begin to dry out, creating an effect similar to that of a hair mousse.
Wear a shower cap if you are concerned about staining your clothing or surrounding surfaces
Step 5. Wash off the mask using a shampoo that contains natural ingredients
At the end of the exposure time, go into the shower to rinse your hair. You will need to shampoo, water alone will not be able to completely eliminate the oils. It is important to use a shampoo based on nourishing and natural ingredients because the sulphates and chemicals contained in common products deprive the hair of the beneficial substances released by the mask.
- After shampooing, use the conditioner as usual.
- For best possible results on dry and damaged hair, this treatment should be repeated every two weeks.
Method 2 of 2: Possible Variations
Step 1. Use the maple syrup alone
If at the moment you do not have the other ingredients available in the recipe, nothing prevents you from using only the syrup. Your hair will still benefit from its excellent moisturizing properties. All you have to do is pour it on dry hair and comb it with a wide toothed comb to distribute it evenly. At this point leave it on for 20 minutes.
- When finished, rinse your hair, then use the shampoo and conditioner as usual.
- If you prefer, you can apply maple syrup only to the most damaged parts of your hair, for example on the ends.
Step 2. Make a mask using maple syrup and honey
Pour and mix three tablespoons of pure maple syrup and one tablespoon of honey into a small bowl. Once ready, distribute the mask over your hair, initially with your fingers and then with a wide-toothed comb. Wear a shower cap, then let the ingredients sit for 20 minutes. When finished, rinse your hair and use the shampoo and conditioner as usual.
Honey naturally moisturizes the hair deeply and also provides a large dose of antioxidants and nutrients. Combining it with maple syrup, which ensures additional hydration, you will get a simple but incredibly effective hair mask
Step 3. Make a mask using maple syrup and coconut oil
Combine these two natural ingredients in equal parts - two tablespoons of both should be enough. Also in this case it is important to check that coconut oil is pure and natural, that is, that it has not been subjected to an industrial refining that has deprived it of its innate properties. It can be useful to check that there is the term "virgin" on the label, even better if it comes from organic farming. Once ready, spread the mask over your hair, then comb it with a wide-toothed comb. Let the ingredients sit for about an hour. When finished, rinse with plenty of water.
- After rinsing, use the shampoo and conditioner as usual.
- Coconut oil has excellent emollient and nourishing properties that make it perfect for softening and moisturizing hair. Combining it with maple syrup you will get a very effective mask.
