A square is a quadrilateral with four right angles and four congruent sides. Easy to draw right? Not really. A steady hand is not enough to draw a perfect square. It will be helpful to learn how to do this with a protractor or compass.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: With the Protractor
Step 1. Draw one side of the square using the ruler
Note the length of the side, so that they are all the same.
Step 2. Taking the side you just drew as a reference point, construct a right angle at each end
Consequently, the two extreme points of the side will also be the vertices of the right angles.
Step 3. Mark a point on the two rays you just drew (which form right angles together with the first side), at a distance equal to the length of the first side (measured from the vertex of the right angle)
Join the two points
Step 4. You just drew a perfect square
Erase all construction lines if you wish.
Method 2 of 2: With the Compass
Step 1. Build a right angle (let's call it LMN)
Make sure that the lines that make it up are longer than the sides of the square you want to get.
Step 2. Put the tip of the compass on the vertex of the right angle you constructed in the previous step, ie on point M
Set the compass width equal to the desired length of the sides of the square. You will not change this value again until the drawing is finished.
- Draw an arc that cuts the line MN at point P
- Draw an arc that cuts the LM line at point Q
