Teeth whitening strips are becoming more and more common. Some may be difficult to use or may flood your mouth with the gel. Follow these steps to avoid expensive surgery and use your new whitening strips.
Steps
Step 1. Read the instructions on the package carefully
They should give you a basic idea of what you will need to do.
Step 2. Remove an upper arch strip from the package
Upper teeth usually show more and need to be whiter.
Step 3. Remove the wrapper from the strip
Be careful not to touch the strip, as it may release gel.
Step 4. Handling only the non-gel layer of the strip, wrap it around the front of the teeth, and fold the remaining part under them
Step 5. Repeat with the bottom strip
Step 6. Wait for the time indicated by the instructions
Step 7. To prevent the gel from spreading all over the mouth try to move your tongue as little as possible, form a barrier with the tongue in the center of the mouth, and swallow more often than you normally do, unless the package directions do not suggest doing otherwise
Step 8. Remove the strips from the teeth
After washing your hands very well, grab the strip with two fingers and tear it off. It may take several attempts.
Step 9. Spit out the excess gel
Avoid the temptation to rinse your mouth unless the instructions advise you to do so.
Step 10. Observe your teeth for progress
Don't be discouraged if your teeth aren't shiny after the first day. Think back to what you expected before using the strips. It may take a week before you see results.
Step 11. If you want, take photos to check the progress
The results you didn't notice might surprise you.
Advice
- Whitening strips require more than one application to whiten your teeth. So be patient.
- If you can't hold out for the entire recommended application time, don't worry. This is completely normal, and with experience you will make it.
