Rhydon is one of the first land-type Pokemon introduced in the first generation of games. Rhydon resembles a rhino - the only difference is that Rhydon is bipedal (walks and stands on two legs) and has a huge tail. Rhydon evolves into Rhyhorn and, starting in Generation IV, into its final Rhyperion form. You can evolve Rhydon with these simple steps.
Steps
Step 1. Get a Protector
The Protector is a type of item that makes Pokemon evolve, and it resembles the roof of a barn. This type of in-game items trigger the evolution of certain Pokemon in conjunction with a particular event - such as leveling up, trading, or winning - when equipped. You can get a Protector in different locations depending on your version of the game:
- Diamond, Platinum and Pearl - can be obtained on Iron Island and on Route 228.
- HeartGold and SoulSilver - can be found at Mortar Mountain.
- Black and White - can be obtained on Route 11 and 13.
- Black 2 and White 2 - can be obtained in the Antiques Shop of Solidarity Gallery, in the Black City and in the Underground Aquifer.
- X and Y - can be obtained in the Villa Battaglia and the Lost Hotel.
- To get the Protector, walk around the areas described above. When you walk over the area where the hidden object is, the message "Your character has found a Protector" will appear, and the object will be added to your Backpack.
Step 2. Equip Rhydon with the Protector
Open the Backpack, select the Protector from the inventory and assign it to Rhydon from your Pokemon team.
Step 3. Go to an Exchange Center
Enter any Pokemon Center in the game, and talk to the non-player character who runs the trading system.
The GTS trading system is a feature available in new versions of the game that allows players to trade Pokemon wirelessly
Step 4. Swap Rhydon with another player
Ask one of your friends to trade Rhydon. Choose it from your team, and trade it with any of your friend's Pokemon. When the other player receives Rhydon, he will evolve into his third and final form, Rhyperior.
Step 5. Get Rhyperior back
Once evolved, ask your friend to return the Pokemon to you.
This step is optional and you can skip it if you don't want to have Rhyperior back
Advice
- Make sure Rhydon has the Protector equipped before trading him. Otherwise, it won't evolve.
- This is the only way to evolve Rhydon, as it is one of the few Pokemon that requires special conditions to evolve.
