Getting your pets to breed in The Sims 3 Pets for PC is harder than you think. You may believe: "There are two animals, male and female, and just put them together." But it's not that simple. In some cases, you won't even see the "Try having puppies" option. This article can help you.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Dogs
Step 1. Have your dogs mate
Not all attempts in The Sims lead to pregnancy. But when your female dog becomes pregnant you will get a message on the screen. Another way to understand that your dog is pregnant is that the "Try to have puppies" interaction will no longer appear until the litter arrives.
Step 2. When the time comes, your female dog will produce a random number of puppies with a graphic effect
Puppies will have traits and signs of their parents and grandparents. They may also have random strokes and markings. Puppies will also be able to inherit the ability to play some games if their parents know a few.
Step 3. A message will appear with the number of puppies reminding you to name them
To do this, click on the puppies and select the "Name the puppy" interaction.
Step 4. A new litter will give all tenants the positive "New Kittens" mood
Step 5. Sims will watch the puppies (alone or under command) saying Awwww
This improves their mood.
Method 2 of 3: Cats
Step 1. Have your cats mate
Fortunately, cats can never accidentally have kittens. As with dogs, you will need to voluntarily mate them. Likewise, you will need to have a kennel before they can mate.
Step 2. Like dogs, cats retreat to the intimacy of the kennel to mate
When they come out, the female has a chance of being pregnant. If that happens, you'll get the message to get ready for the kittens.
When cats mate, make sure the relationship bar is full. When it is full and you have a kennel nearby, press "Try to have a puppy" and get ready for the cats
Step 3. Like other animals, cats don't make a lot of fuss
They just produce a few kittens with a graphic effect. Then you can name the kittens.
Step 4. Puppies start eating solid foods as soon as they are born, so be prepared to refill bowls more often
Method 3 of 3: Horses
Step 1. Get your horses to mate
You have many options when you want to breed horses. First you could create a male and a female horse and have them mate in "Edit Relationship", and this will start them off at a higher relationship level. You will need a horse box on your property; without this building, horses cannot mate. If you have a couple of horses of different genders with a high enough relationship and a box, you can select the "Try to have a puppy" interaction.
Step 2. The horses will enter the stable and you can see a shower of hearts around them
As with Sims, not all attempts lead to pregnancy. Keep trying until you get the pregnancy message.
Step 3. After a few days the mare will give birth to the foal you can name
The foal will usually have characteristics of one or both parents. If the parent horses were trained, there is a chance that the foal will inherit their skills.
Step 4. You can also get a foal by mating your mare at the equestrian center
This will allow you to receive a foal to keep indoors. Offering a male as a stallion allows you to earn, not to receive a foal.
Step 5. Raise your new foal
The foal will become a playable member of your home. Foals have the same needs as horses, but they are not thirsty. You will be able to satisfy thirst and hunger at the same time by feeding them, thanks to the mother or with a bottle.
Step 6. Foals don't like being separated from their mothers, and the same goes for mothers
Both receive a negative mood modifier from separation, quickly lose socialization, and won't be happy until reunited.
Step 7. What happens when a foal is permanently separated from its mother for sale, adoption or death?
The foal will miss its mother until it acquires a friend or a senior relationship with another horse, or when it grows up.
Advice

- Unlike horses, kittens of dogs and cats cannot be sold. This means that you will not be able to breed your animals to make money.
- You will not be able to select the "Try to have puppies" interaction if you do not have a kennel in the house. Furthermore, the animals must have a high level of relationship with each other.
