Steps
Step 1. Equip Healing Items
Make sure the whole party has potions in their gear. If you have strong healing potions like Hi-potions and Mega-Potions, that's better.
Step 2. Prepare your friends for battle
Set the use of Donald and Goofy items to "Emergency Only" so that they only use healing potions when they have very little life. It will spare you several items of care.
Step 3. Save before the battle
There is a save point in the colosseum atrium. Make sure you save your game there so that (just in case you lose) it will be easier for you to try again. So you will be able to resume the game from inside the colosseum!
Step 4. Enter the arena
When ready, choose "I'm not afraid" when asked if you want to fight. Once you agree to enter the arena there will be a short cutscene. The battle starts right after so get ready!
Step 5. Lock the target on one of the Cerberus heads
First look at one of the Cerberus side heads. Right or left doesn't matter - but don't lock on the middle head for now. When he starts shooting energy balls at you, avoid them by rolling away. When Cerberus growls at the sky, it will start attacking with its bite… it's your chance to attack! Get close and attack the head you stuck on. Attack a little at a time, and then distance yourself. If you don't, Cerberus will attack you with a very powerful bite.
Step 6. Avoid a lot
You cannot continually attack Cerberus. You will have to attack in small bursts and then dodge away by rolling and jumping away from Cerberus. Just remember that Cerberus will for sure stop a continuous attack, so don't try.
Step 7. Use potions and items wisely
When your life flashes red or is nearly critical, immediately move away from Cerberus and use a potion or item. Don't use your items on Donald and Goofy, they have their own personal items. On top of that, even if they are knocked out, they will automatically come back to life after a while.
Step 8. Cut off the last head
After defeating the two side heads, it's time to finish off the central head. Lock the target on the head. Cerberus will have some new attacks but your dodges should still work. Keep attacking Cerberus and sooner or later he will be defeated.
