This article shows you how to delete a comment from the YouTube platform. You can delete any comments you have posted on YouTube along with any comments that other users have posted on your channel. It should be noted that you do not have the possibility to delete the comments left by other users at the bottom of the videos that are not your property, that is, that have not been published by you on YouTube. However, you have the option to report the user who posted an inappropriate comment regarding any video on the platform. Should YouTube administrators find that the comment violates the rules of the service or that it is simply spam, it will be immediately removed.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Delete a Comment
Step 1. Log in to the YouTube platform
You can choose to use the mobile app or the official website.
If you are not already logged into your account, press the button ⋮ (or Log in if you are using the website) and enter your email address and security password to continue.
Step 2. Go to the video page referenced by the comment to be deleted
You can search using the movie name and YouTube bar. If you are using the mobile app, you will need to tap the magnifying glass icon.
If the comment is related to one of your videos, you will need to select your profile icon, choose the option My channel and select the video in question (on mobile device) or choose the item My channel located in the upper left part of the page and select the video in question (on desktop and laptop).
Step 3. Find the comment to remove
To find the comment you want to delete, you'll likely need to scroll down the page, especially if you're using the mobile app.
Step 4. Press the ⋮ button
It is located in the lower right corner of the comment you want to delete. The context menu will be displayed.
Step 5. Choose the Delete option or Remove.
If it's a comment you posted yourself, you'll find the entry Delete, while if it was left by another user on one of your videos, the option will be there Remove. In any case, the comment in question will be deleted.
If you are using the mobile app, you will need to press the button again Cancel or Remove when required.
Method 2 of 2: Report an Inappropriate Comment
Step 1. Log in to the YouTube platform
You can choose to use the mobile app or the official website.
If you are not already logged into your account, press the button ⋮ (or Log in if you are using the website) and enter your email address and security password to continue.
Step 2. Go to the video page referenced by the comment to report
You can search using the movie name and YouTube bar. If you are using the mobile app, you will need to tap the magnifying glass icon.
Step 3. Press the ⋮ button
It's located in the lower right corner of the comment you want to report. The context menu will be displayed.
Step 4. Select the Report option (on mobile device) or Report spam or abuse (on desktops and laptops).
A pop-up window will appear with the following items:
- Unwanted or spam commercial content;
- Pornography or sexually explicit material;
- Hate speech or explicit violence;
- Harassment or bullying - selecting this option you will have to specify the type of harassment (if it directly affects you or another user).
Step 5. Choose one of the options shown
Make sure that the reason for the report is consistent with the content of the comment, as it is not correct to report a person who has not committed any violation.
Step 6. Press the Report button
It is located in the lower right part of the pop-up window that appeared. This way the comment will be flagged and hidden from your YouTube page.
