It's not always easy to put make-up on a little girl's face. However, if she has to perform she will need it, otherwise it will be difficult to see her from a distance, whatever her complexion is. Fortunately, there are several tricks that will make the process easier for you. With a little practice and patience your little girl will become the star of the stage in no time.
Steps
Part 1 of 3: Applying Makeup
Step 1. Prepare the skin for makeup
If the girl's face is not made up, she will look pale and washed out when she steps onto the stage. To make sure your cosmetics don't hurt, clean your face by washing it with a mild cleanser and warm water before applying.
- After washing, apply a light cream for sensitive skin. Wait at least 30 minutes before proceeding with your makeup to make sure the moisturizer absorbs well.
- If your child has dry skin, soak a cotton ball in an alcohol-free toner and pat it on her face before applying make-up.
Step 2. Apply foundation
This cosmetic allows you to even out the complexion. Choose a foundation that is one or two shades darker, even if the baby's skin is already quite dark, otherwise it risks looking washed out in the spotlight. Prefer a compact pancake foundation rather than liquid: if the child sweats from the stage lights, there will be no streaks and the product will not smudge. Apply it with a sponge or a soft brush. Start from the cheeks and blend outwards.
- Make sure you blend it around your neck and hairline, otherwise it will look like you're wearing a mask.
- You don't have to buy expensive products. Any brand for sensitive skin will do.
Step 3. Apply the blush, which will give a healthy glow to the baby's face
Choose a tone slightly darker than the color of her cheeks. Avoid colors like dark purple and bright orange, preferring a natural tone instead. Ask her to smile and apply the blush on her cheeks. Blend it on the cheekbones and towards the ears.
- Apply the blush with a soft-bristled brush.
- If you choose the right tone, the result will be slightly artificial, but the bright colors and the contrast will be very beautiful to see on stage. Remember that viewers will see the baby from a distance.
Step 4. Apply translucent face powder, a clear loose cosmetic that helps set makeup
Some powders have illuminating properties, which polish the face. Avoid them, otherwise the girl will look like a lighthouse when she takes the stage. Apply the powder starting from the cheeks and work gently on the rest of the face.
- A veil of powder is enough. If you overdo it, the result will be unnatural and dusty.
- Apply it with a soft-bristled brush.
Part 2 of 3: Emphasize Eyes and Lips
Step 1. Apply eyeshadow
Choose a soft golden or slightly iridescent peach color. Apply it on the entire mobile eyelid with a special brush. Blend it towards the eyebrows. Then, take an eyeshadow that is darker than a natural color, for example chocolate brown, and apply it in the crease of the eye. Using a clean brush, blend it with the light eyeshadow.
- Blends lightly and delicately. If you press too hard, you risk getting rid of the eyeshadow.
- If the girl has blonde or light brown eyebrows, define them with a light brown eyeshadow.
Step 2. Apply eyeliner
Outline the eyes with a black pencil. To outline the upper eyelid, ask the child to close her eyes. Gently lift your eyebrow and apply the pencil by drawing small strokes at the root of the upper lashes. To outline the bottom, ask her to look up. Gently lower your cheek to apply the pencil to the lower lashline.
- Make up with patience and attention: if the make-up ends up in the eyes, it can start to water, ruining the result.
- If the child is very young, ask her to lean against a wall or lie on the floor to prevent her from making sudden movements.
Step 3. Apply mascara
Use a black one that is not waterproof. Waterproof mascaras are very difficult to remove on a little girl's face. Gently raise your eyebrow and ask her to look at the ground. Apply mascara to the tips of the upper lashes. Let it dry before applying it to the lower ones; in this case, invite her to look up and gently lower her cheek.
- Try to be patient. If you make sudden movements or don't let her blink, she may start to cooperate less.
- You may find it helpful to invite her to lean against a wall to prevent her from making sudden movements.
Step 4. Apply lipstick and lip liner
Choose them a few shades darker than your natural lip color. To begin, outline them with the pencil by carefully drawing a thin line on the edges. Then, apply the lipstick. Ask her to open her mouth in a small O and gently tap the lipstick. Blend it on your lips with your finger.
- The lip liner is optional, but it helps keep the lipstick in place.
- If the lipstick is too thick, pat it with a tissue to blot any excess.
Part 3 of 3: Remove make-up
Step 1. Correct mistakes with a baby wipe
If by any chance you make a mistake during application, clean the affected area with a washcloth. Wait for it to dry, then reapply your makeup. For example, if the mascara ends up on the cheek, you don't just have to remove the stain, you also have to repeat the application of foundation and blush, setting with a translucent powder.
This is the most effective technique there is for quickly correcting small errors. The longer you wait, the harder it will be to fix it with a baby wipe
Step 2. Use a mild cleanser
Choose one formulated for sensitive skin. Have the little girl lean over the sink and gently sprinkle some water on her face. Apply a dab of cleanser to your hand. Rub it with the other to create a thick lather and gently massage it into the baby's skin. Avoid the eye area. After a few minutes, wash off the soap with warm water and pat your face dry.
- Remove eye makeup with a gentle washcloth. Ask the child to close her eyes and remove the makeup by massaging the washcloth down. Be careful not to get makeup in your eyes.
- If you are concerned that your skin is irritated, apply a gentle, fragrance-free cream after washing.
Step 3. Remove make-up with coconut oil
If the baby has very sensitive skin, avoid the cleanser and prefer coconut oil instead. To start, rub a teaspoon all over your face, avoiding your eyes. Then, remove your make-up using a sponge moistened with warm water. When you remove makeup from her eyes, ask her to close them and gently massage her eyelids down.
- If the makeup is heavy, you will need more than a teaspoon of oil.
- Wrap the baby's shoulders with a towel to prevent the oil from dripping onto the clothes.
Advice
- Before the performance, practice applying your makeup and see how it fits.
- Use brands designed for sensitive skin.
