When you go to bed you want to pray, but you never know what to say. This article will help you understand how to tell God everything He wants to hear.
Steps
Step 1. Begin by thanking him and explain what you are grateful for
Thank God for your family, the well-being, everything you have, security, love and affection, everything that is in your life; thanks Jesus for sacrificing himself to allow us to go to Heaven and meet God.
Step 2. Talk about your sins and what you could do to redeem yourself
If you have sinned against someone, make sure that you forgive yourself. Humbly ask God's forgiveness for the sins you have named and those you have previously committed.
Step 3. Begin by saying “I pray for _”
Do this throughout the prayer. You can fill the space with things about the world, family or whatever else you want. For example: "I pray for all those who have suffered from natural or man-made disasters."
Step 4. Humbly ask God to help you in dark times or in your daily life
Ask him for help by making promises or tell him you will never do something again. For example: "My God, please help me think before acting."
Step 5. Thank God for all he does for you, your family, and the world
Thank him for listening to your prayers and forgiving you. Thank him for his love and deeds.
Step 6. You are at the end of the prayer
Asking God for something you desire is not advisable, so start by asking for something that is not directly related to you. For example: "Lord don't let my children quarrel". You can then ask for something more personal. For example: "Please let me find a good job."
Step 7. The last word will obviously be "Amen"
Advice
- For point 1: think about all that God has given you today.
- For point 2: think about the day just passed and the sins committed.
- For point 3: think about all the tragedies you heard on the news.
- For point 4: think about what you find difficult.
- For step 5: Think about what God does for you each day.
- For point 6: think about what you need or what would make your life less stressful.
- If you think this is not enough, attend religious services.
- Remember that prayer is a two-way conversation. Before forcing yourself to say anything, wait and listen. It will be God who will suggest the right words to you.
Warnings
- Try not to say the same things every day, change point 2, otherwise the prayer will lose its meaning. Prayer would become a duty, and it doesn't have to be that way.
- In step 6 try not to ask too much, because God knows what you want. Make sure you ask for what you really want, not tantrums.
