Nowadays, boyish hair is more common at costume parties than in everyday looks. In the roaring twenties, short bob hair, heavy eyeliner over the eyes and dark lipstick were indicative of a modern and emancipated woman. If you are about to take part in a themed party or you just want to renew your look inspired by those years, all you have to do is follow this guide.
Steps
Step 1. Apply a foundation that makes the complexion even
You could try to use old style products, perhaps used more in the theater than at home. To allow your skin to breathe, moisten the foundation sponge before dipping it into the product. If your skin is very light, almost like porcelain or alabaster, try to emphasize it.
Step 2. Darken and tilt your brows slightly downwards with a dark pencil or even an eyeliner
Gullwing brows were very much in vogue in the 1920s, so this step will pay off if yours are already thin enough. If not, you won't necessarily have to prune them. Just cover them with a 20s-style hat or bangs.
Step 3. Apply the primer you usually use for makeup before applying dark eyeshadow
Choose a gray eyeshadow to give your eyes a smoky effect. Use black eyeliner for the lower lash line. Do not skimp - all dark tones must blend evenly. Apply black mascara to the upper and lower lashes. Try to make them as dark as possible. Choose a waterproof formulation to avoid unwanted smudging.
Step 4. Apply some red blush to the cheeks
If red is too strong for your skin tone, opt for a raspberry or pink. The cheeks must be beautiful red. Blend the color well, the final result must be similar to the effect on the cheeks just entered from a cold environment.
Step 5. Apply pale foundation to clean, exfoliated lips
Pass a dark red pencil on the lips, exaggerate with the cupid's bow in perfect 20's style. Highlight the lower lip, slightly extend the edges. As for the lateral edge of the lips instead, shorten it. Fill your lips with a pencil before applying the lipstick. The final appearance of the lips must be as if they are tight and ready for a kiss.
Step 6. Finished
Advice
- Do a little research on the 1920s look. Learn more about the women of the era, such as Coco Chanel, the pioneer of the modern, slightly masculine feminine look.
- If your makeup becomes too sooty or smudges appear during the evening, wipe off the excess with a cotton swab. Bring a box in your bag just in case.
