Sea salt spray is usually used to wave hair, but it's actually an even more versatile product. Having texturizing properties, it is possible to use it whenever you need to give volume to your hair.
Steps
Method 1 of 5: Waving the Hair
Step 1. Moisten the hair, then remove the knots and detangle them using a wide-toothed comb
- The hair should be moistened evenly from roots to ends, but do not soak it.
- You can wash them if you want, but use a moisturizing shampoo or apply a nourishing conditioner after washing. Normal or clarifying shampoos remove the sebum, as a result it becomes difficult to achieve the required texture of this hairstyle.
Step 2. Shake the spray and spray it from the center of the hair to the ends
For this hairstyle it is best to avoid spraying it at the roots. It can in fact make them dull and weigh them down, especially for those with naturally fine hair
Step 3. Working one strand at a time, "scrunch" the hair from bottom to top
Then, to define them even more, twist each section.
- To "curl" the hair, place the palm of your hand under the tips and gradually push it upwards, wrapping more and more hair. With this movement, the strands should gather and curl, allowing you to achieve a textured effect.
- To twist your hair, grab the bottom of a section between your fingers and gently twist it clockwise and counterclockwise. As a spiral forms, the strand should curl, creating a textured effect.
Step 4. Air dry your hair
Once dry, you will have soft waves, similar to those that form when you go to the sea.
Alternatively, blow dry your hair using the blow dryer of cold air. Do not use the jet of hot air and do not rub them with a towel, otherwise they will wrinkle
Method 2 of 5: Create a Bedhead Effect
Step 1. Wash your hair as usual using a normal or moisturizing shampoo, then blow dry with the cool air from your hair dryer
- Avoid using clarifying shampoos. By drying the natural sebum, they prevent the desired effect from being achieved.
- The blast of cold air is perfect because it should dry your hair without making it curl more than necessary. Avoid setting the hair dryer to a high temperature and do not pat them dry with a towel.
Step 2. Give a light sprinkle of sea salt spray from root to tip
Distribute it with a comb.
- Contrary to waves, the bedhead effect (which literally means "bed head") should affect the entire head rather than the lower half of the hair. Consequently, it should also be applied to the roots.
- In any case, a light splash is enough. Overdoing it can weigh down the hair, making it flat and tousled rather than bulky.
Step 3. Tousle your hair
Spread your fingers evenly over your hair and shake it vigorously. Repeat until you get the desired effect.
- If you prefer a less tousled effect, don't use your hands - just wave your head from side to side. This movement should allow you to volumize your hair, but avoid messing it up excessively.
- To ruffle them even more, turn upside down and ruffle your hair with your fingers.
Step 4. Let the spray dry
It should take a few minutes. At this point you will have artfully ruffled hair.
After the procedure is finished, avoid touching or combing your hair, or it will go back to being flat in no time
Method 3 of 5: Create Soft Curls
Step 1. Wash your hair using regular or curly shampoo
Dry them with the cold air jet of the hair dryer and a diffuser.
- Before softening the curls, you need to get a good hold. To do this, use a moisturizing shampoo or shampoo for defined curls. If you use a regular one, apply a suitable conditioner to moisturize the hair.
- The jet of cold air limits the frizz effect. The diffuser is not strictly necessary, but it helps to curl the hair better.
Step 2. Create defined curls using the method of your choice
If you wish, apply a specific serum for curly hair first.
-
If you've never curled your hair, try using an iron:
- Turn it on;
- While it heats up, comb your hair and divide it into sections;
- Close the iron clamp at the bottom of a section, then wrap it around the wand to the desired height. Wait for 10 seconds before reopening the caliper.
Step 3. Make a light sprinkle of sea salt spray from mid-length to the ends of the hair
- Avoid overdoing it: the spray can weigh down and flatten the curls;
- You should also avoid spraying it at the roots. In reality this shouldn't ruin the hairstyle, but the product is not particularly effective in this area.
Step 4. Divide the curls
Working casually, grab the curls with your fingers and scrub them to soften them. Repeat with other strands.
Don't spend too much time on each hedgehog. Your goal should be to soften defined curls, creating a tousled and natural effect. But if you overdo it, you risk undoing them completely
Step 5. Let the spray dry
It takes about a minute. The curls should now appear softer and more natural, while still maintaining a good hold.
Method 4 of 5: Styling Flat Hair
Step 1. Avoid shampooing
It is recommended to use this technique on hair that has not been washed in the previous 24-48 hours.
- Sea salt spray is effective for reviving flattened hair that has lost its styling. It allows you to comb them and keep them in order by postponing the washing, on the other hand it is known that avoiding shampooing every day helps to have healthy and hydrated hair.
- This method can also be used if the hair is fresh from shampoo, but is most effective a day or two after washing.
Step 2. Carefully spray the sea salt spray from root to tip
The coating should be homogeneous, but light. After the process is complete, the hair should be slightly damp to the touch, but not wet
Step 3. Distribute the spray evenly with a wide-toothed comb
Comb your hair outward, working one strand at a time from root to tip.
- It is important to comb them outwards rather than downwards. Going down is certainly effective for distributing the spray, but it doesn't volumize your hair that much. Instead, if you comb them slightly outward, the hair will become voluminous on the sides and top of the head.
- Play with the comb until you get the desired result. To get more volume, it may be necessary to comb the hair starting from the underlying layer of the hair. In some cases it is instead preferable to replace the comb with a round brush.
Step 4. Let them dry
If you haven't used large amounts of the product, the spray will air dry in minutes. The hair should acquire the original volume and waves again, as if it were fresh from shampoo.
In addition to volumizing flat hair, the sea salt spray should also soften the grease, making it less oily
Method 5 of 5: Redefine a Crop
Step 1. Wash your hair using regular shampoo and conditioner, then blow dry with warm air
- Better to avoid clarifying shampoos: by eliminating sebum and texture from the hair, they counteract the effect of the sea salt spray.
- It is not necessary to use other products. However, if you want to apply an anti-frizz serum, mousse, or other styling product, do it after washing your hair, before proceeding with the crop.
Step 2. Spray the sea salt spray from roots to ends
Distribute the product evenly with a comb.
Apply a generous amount of spray. Hair should feel moist to the touch, but not wet
Step 3. Gather your hair as you like, for example you can make a bun.
- This technique can be used with just about any crop, but is more punchy for straight hairstyles, like a clamshell hairstyle or a perfect bun.
- If you use the sea salt spray to ruffle a classic crop, the textured effect should slightly stand out the hairstyle without completely overturning it.
Step 4. Once your hair is gathered, make a final spray of spray to fix it
- In this case, the sea salt spray is used as if it were a normal hair spray.
- If after the completion of the crop some strands remain free (for example those that frame the face), you can gently twist them after having sprayed the spray to make them more defined.
Step 5. Let your hair air dry
At this point the hairstyle will have been completed.
- The texture created by the sea salt spray should prevent unruly strands, helping to keep the crop longer.
- Texturing a classic crop helps give it a chic and modern feel.
