Water parks are a great place to save yourself from the summer heat and have fun. They usually have less demanding rides than roller coasters, so they are suitable for the whole family.
Steps
Step 1. Prepare your visit to the water park
Put the costume under your clothes or take it with you. Bring sunscreen, lipstick, money, towels, and a change of clothes for the end of the day. If you are a girl and have long hair, bring shampoo too. Bring some sandals or slippers too!
Step 2. Try to get to the park when it opens
You will have a couple of hours before the park fills up, so there will be fewer queues to do.
Step 3. Look for a locker room
Most water parks have changing rooms to put your things in and change into. It is better to use changing rooms than bathrooms to change clothes. In the locker room you can undress on a bench if you don't mind being seen naked by others (of the same sex as you).
Step 4. Put on sunscreen
A sunburn can ruin your day.
Step 5. Go to the bathroom before going on the slides
You will avoid having to go looking for the bathroom when you are inside the park.
Step 6. Plan which slides to go first
You may need a map, so you can go on all the slides in one area and then move to another. Walking takes time, so get organized.
Step 7. Go to the popular slides early in the morning or in the evening when the queues are shorter
Queues can be very long in the mid-morning or afternoon and are best avoided.
Step 8. Eat when there are more people
Around noon the park will be very busy. It is a good time to eat and to avoid wasting time queuing.
Step 9. Take a rest in the wave pool
Go to the wave pool after eating. Most water parks have a wave pool or an area where you can relax near the water. It is a pleasant way to rest for a while and avoid the long queues.
Step 10. Go back to the changing rooms and put on your sunscreen before heading back to the slides
At this point the queues should be thinned (or you no longer feel like sitting around). Sunscreen is no longer effective, so you need more to get to the end of the day.
Step 11. Go to the less frequented slides, or the faster ones
Avoid the popular slides in the afternoon. This is a good time to go on the faster slides so that you don't have to queue up.
Step 12. Check the park situation in the evening
Many of the water parks empty around 4 or 5 in the afternoon. This is the ideal time to go on the most popular slides (although there may still be long queues).
Step 13. Change in the locker room when you are ready to leave
Take off your wet swimsuit and put on some dry clothes. Many water parks offer the opportunity to take a shower. Never change in bathrooms, which are very unhygienic, especially in water parks.
Advice
- Check where the toilets are, so you know which one is closest for when you need them.
- Avoid wearing things that you can lose when you go on the slides, such as hats, glasses or other such things.
- Many parks do not allow you to wear shoes or slippers when you go on the slides because they can fall as you go down. Put on shoes to enter the water or sandals if you want to avoid taking them off every time you have to use a slide.
- If you don't want the water to get in your eyes, wear swimming goggles.
- If park regulations allow, bring something to eat. Most of the things to eat are very expensive, so if you bring something from home you can save money.
- Carrying things with you when you go on the slides is not very comfortable, and leaving money in the lockers could be a bit risky. Buy a small tube to hang around your neck or waist to put your money in and a lip stick.
- Take pictures. Water parks offer plenty of photo opportunities, especially for families. Buy a disposable underwater camera before entering the park.
- If you are on a budget, choose a park that is affordable but still offers some nice attractions.
Warnings
- You shouldn't go to certain attractions if you have serious health problems. There are signs not to use certain attractions if you have back and neck problems or if you are pregnant.
- Bacteria and fungi love to lurk on wet swimsuits, so don't go home wearing swimsuits.
- Be careful about going on certain slides as soon as you finish eating, you might throw up.
- Make sure you choose the slides you want to go on before queuing up. It would be a shame to make a long queue and then realize that you don't feel like going down that slide.
- Sometimes adults feel like diving into the children's pool. Avoid doing this.
