The skin of the ears is just like that of any other part of the body. Here, too, the pores can become clogged and, as a result, painful, hard-to-reach pimples can often form. Try practicing some of the following tips to get rid of pimples in your ears.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: With Drugs
Step 1. Touch the pimple with clean hands
Before handling it, be sure to wash your hands 1 or 2 times, as dirty hands can aggravate the situation.
Step 2. Clean the pimple with alcohol
One way to start treating it is to wipe it with an alcohol-soaked cotton swab. This prevents the boil from becoming infected and blocks a possible spread of the bacteria.
Step 3. Clean the area with witch hazel
This plant has disinfectant properties that can soothe pimples in the ears and prevent new ones. Clean the affected ear area with a cotton swab or pad dipped in witch hazel.
Step 4. Wash the pimple
Wash your skin with warm water at the highest temperature you can handle. Also use mild soap or an oil-free cleanser. If you can, get a product containing salicylic acid, which helps unclog pores and reduce the size of the pimple. If this is inside the ear, use a hot or hot washcloth or cotton swab to wash and massage the pimple. Be careful not to rub it, as it may cause further irritation.
Step 5. Apply acne cream
To try to reduce the pimple, you can apply a specific acne cream that contains 2-10% benzoyl peroxide. Let the cream dry on the pimple.
You could also apply a 10% glycolic acid cream
Step 6. Apply an ointment
Try putting on some Neosporin, another similar cream or gel to help heal the pimple. Once you've applied the product, let it air dry.
Step 7. Use hydrogen peroxide
Dip a cotton ball in hydrogen peroxide and place it on the pimple. If this is inside the ear canal, you can also decide to pour the peroxide directly into the ear. Finally, drain it into a bowl or onto a cotton ball.
Step 8. Let it heal naturally
Pimples in the ear are like everyone else. When they form in the ear, they are typically caused by a buildup of dirt, shampoo, and ear wax. The best thing remains to leave them alone and wait for them to disappear on their own.
Don't try to pop them, even if it's a common practice for pimples. Those found in the ears are not only very painful to squeeze but, if found on the fleshy lobe or inside the ear, they can also bleed for a while and cause further problems
Method 2 of 3: With Natural Remedies
Step 1. Make a warm compress
One way to speed up the natural breakdown of the pimple is to apply a warm compress. Clean the pimple with alcohol and cover it with cling film making sure to seal it securely. If you don't want to use cellophane, soak a cloth in hot water, wringing out the excess water. Fold the fabric in half and place it on the pimple. Leave the compress in place for 10-15 minutes. You can repeat the process 3-4 times a day.
This is especially useful if the area is very inflamed and painful
Step 2. Use black tea
Wet a black tea bag with hot water and place it over the pimple by covering it with a warm damp cloth. Tea tannins combined with heat help reduce inflammation.
Step 3. Try the milk
Milk contains alpha hydroxy acids which help clear pores and eliminate dead skin. Dip a cotton ball in milk, squeeze it and rub it all over the pimple area. Leave it on for 10 minutes, then wash the area with warm water. You can repeat 3-4 times a day.
Step 4. Use tea tree oil
This oil has antibacterial properties that can kill the bacteria responsible for pimples. In addition, it also helps speed up the healing process. Apply it to the pimple using a cotton ball.
Always make sure to dilute it: use 1 part oil with 9 parts water
Step 5. Apply aloe vera gel
This is a plant with known antibacterial properties, able to reduce swelling and soothe pimples. You can use the gel by taking it directly from the aloe vera leaf or buy the gel at the supermarket. Apply it on the pimple and leave it on for 20 minutes and then rinse with warm water. Repeat twice a day.
Step 6. Try apple cider vinegar
This vinegar has antiseptic properties capable of preventing possible infections and bacterial proliferation; in addition, it also helps to shrink pores. Dip a cotton ball in the vinegar and dab it on the pimple. Let the liquid sit for about a minute, then rinse with water. Repeat the procedure 3-4 times a day.
Step 7. Prepare a saline solution
This method can also get rid of the pimple. Mix one teaspoon of Epsom salts in 120ml of hot water, making sure it dissolves completely. When the solution has cooled a little, use a cotton ball to apply it to the pimple. When it dries, rinse it off. Repeat 2-3 times a day.
Method 3 of 3: Prevention
Step 1. Wash your hands
One of the main causes of ear pimples is lack of hygiene. If you tend to touch your ears regularly without washing your hands first, you may transfer the sebum and bacteria normally present to your skin, thus blocking the pores and causing pimples.
Step 2. Clean your ears
Make sure you always keep the pinna, lobes and the area behind the ears thoroughly clean. Sometimes residues from shampoos, gels, and other hair products may remain, causing pimples to form. Use soap and water and clean this area thoroughly when you shower or wash your face and hair.
Clean the inside of your ears as needed. Make sure you irrigate your ear with a specific solution and don't use cotton swabs when taking care of the inner ear area
Step 3. Clean your ears after a shower
Wash them thoroughly after each shower. This is when the pores are slightly open, making it easier to get rid of excess sebum and reduce blackheads.
Step 4. Clean your phone
Another common way to encourage pimples to appear in your ears is to use a dirty phone. You should always clean your cellphone after using it; this is especially important if you share it with other people.
Step 5. Clean the earphones
As these devices enter the ears, they may have traces of sebum, ear wax and other residues of dust and dirt. When the earphones are not in the ears they can collect dirt and other contaminants present in the environment; then, once you put them back in your ears, you also transfer the dirt into them. Use an alcohol wipe and clean the earbuds after each use.
If the pimple is in the outer ear, do not use the earbuds until it is completely gone, otherwise you could aggravate the situation. Rub the earbuds with an antibacterial product otherwise another boil may grow due to the dirty device
Step 6. Get examined by a doctor
If there are frequent pimples in your ears, if your ears are covered in blackheads, or if you have a pimple that drains fluid, you should see your doctor. You should also consult it if the pimple is too painful and does not go away within a week. Your doctor may prescribe a product to try to reduce it and can figure out if the cause of your problem is hormonal in nature.
