Have you ever stayed up all night just trying to memorize math formulas? And have you ever memorized a set of formulas and then forgot them the following day? To overcome this problem and avoid going back to the books often, try to follow the advice specified in this article.
Steps
Method 1 of 1: Memorizing Mathematics and Physics Formulas
Step 1. Relax
Problems in math and physics are not to be studied under stress. Relax your mind. In doing so, you will be able to focus more on your business.
Step 2. Limit the consultation of the formulas as much as possible
Many people think that, given a glance at a formula, it immediately enters their mind, but, when they wake up the next day, they despair, realizing that, during the night, they have forgotten it. That is why it is a good idea to solve a problem by making an effort to remember the formula without consulting it. You need to do this as often as you can. Repetition leads to memorization.
Step 3. Analyze the units of measure
Put the units of each variable in the formula and see if you can get the units present in the answer.
Step 4. Try to understand how the formula is structured
You already have the feeling that the concept is correct. The formula makes sense. For example, a = F / m. F is in the numerator of the fraction. This makes sense, as if you exert more force on an object, it can accelerate faster. Mass is the denominator of the fraction, since more mass means more inertia, which makes acceleration of the object more difficult. The opposite formula (a = m / F) would not make sense. Using this incorrect formula, a greater force (in the denominator of the fraction) would result in a smaller acceleration and this would not make sense.
Step 5. Meet your needs
Do you study while you are hungry or thirsty? How does it feel? You always feel reluctant to concentrate, because you are in a hurry to go get a pizza. If you start feeling hungry or thirsty, stop studying those formulas and satisfy your need for food or drink.
Step 6. Take them with you
Find a notebook and write down all those formulas. Keep the booklet in your back pocket and try to go through them whenever you feel you are missing something. This will bring back memories of what you have learned, imprinting those formulas in your mind forever.
Advice
- Write all the formulas on a piece of paper and stick it on the wall of your bedroom, so every time you look at it, you will be able to remember what you have forgotten. This works perfectly.
- Try using a story. For example, the solution formula of the second degree equations (-b ± √ (b2 -4ac) / (2a)) for me becomes: a baldo negative boy (-b) couldn't decide (+ or -) whether to join a radical party (root) or stay well framed (b squared) and get lost (-) four tofascinating civette (-4ac), all over 2 tontimeridiane (2a).
- Try making a game that involves memorizing formulas with your friends. This can automatically make those formulas fixed in the mind, because everyone wants to win and you too. You can also try a little nursery rhyme or song if you like to sing.
