Are you studying the basics of chemistry? Do you feel a little lost in the world of this science?
Nobody is born a chemist. To become one, or to be a brilliant student in this subject, it is enough for you to develop your intuition for chemistry. What is it about?
Steps
Step 1. Since chemistry is a visual science, you can take a visual approach to learn it
To make studying the basics of chemistry quick and easy, you can use multimedia tools rich in visual content.
Step 2. Think about chemistry at the molecular level
For the most part, the chemistry is invisible on a microscopic level. You have to use your imagination. Try to develop your intuition for chemistry by thinking in terms of molecules. Here is a small example. When someone talks about water, instead of thinking of a raindrop or a blue sea, you should first imagine H2O: an oxygen atom bonded to two hydrogen (the elements that make up water).
Step 3. View the chemistry in 3D
You were brought up to read textbooks with drawings of molecules in two dimensions, but you must remember that chemistry exists in the three-dimensional world. Use a 3D model or educate your mind to imagine any molecular structure in three dimensions. This constitutes another form of insight for chemistry.
Step 4. "See" the chemistry in electronic structures
Chemistry is about electrons: where will they be and where will they go? If you see a 3D model, it's not about balls and sticks, but an electronic cloud. Learn the fundamentals of chemistry by understanding its electronic structure theories.
Step 5. Study all the fundamentals and learn how to solve problems step by step
Step 6. Practice solving problems using those provided by a chemistry textbook, usually at the end of each chapter
