This article explains how to start a Windows computer using the "Command Prompt". The procedure to follow in this case is different from the one that allows you to open a "Command Prompt" window on a Windows computer. The "Command Prompt" is only available on computers running a Windows operating system.
Steps
Step 1. Access the "Start" menu by clicking on the icon
It features the Windows logo and is located in the lower left corner of the desktop.
If you are turning on your computer, click on the login screen as soon as it appears on the screen. In the center of the screen you will see a text field appear in which you will need to enter the login password
Step 2. Click on the "Stop" icon
It is located at the bottom left of the "Start" menu. A submenu will be displayed.
If you have just turned on your computer and clicked on the login screen, the "Shut Down" icon will be visible in the lower right corner of the screen
Step 3. Press and hold the ⇧ Shift key on your keyboard
Hold it down until you are explicitly instructed to release it.
Step 4. Click on Reboot System option
It is one of the items listed in the menu that appeared. This will automatically restart your computer. Since you are holding down the ⇧ Shift key, instead of appearing the Windows Start Screen, the Advanced Startup Menu will appear.
This step can take anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes to complete, so be sure to hold down the ⇧ Shift key for as long as necessary
Step 5. When the advanced boot menu appears, you can release the ⇧ Shift key
This is a blue screen where several options are listed. At this point you can release the ⇧ Shift key.
Step 6. Click on the Troubleshoot option
It features a wrench and screwdriver icon. This way you will be redirected to another page.
Step 7. Click on the Advanced Options item
It is displayed at the top of the screen.
Step 8. Click on Command Prompt option
It is displayed on the right side of the screen.
Step 9. Enter your login password
This is the security password of your Microsoft account. You will have to type it in the text field that will appear in the center of the screen, then you will have to click on the button Continues located at the bottom right of the page.
To launch the "Command Prompt", you cannot use the security PIN you use to log into Windows
Step 10. Wait for the "Command Prompt" window to appear
When the "Command Prompt" window appears on the screen, you can use it to make any changes you need.
