Making homemade dish soap that does not contain chemicals or additives like those sold in the supermarket is much easier than you think. Just group a few simple ingredients that you may already have at home.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: The Ingredients
Step 1. Buy half a liter of liquid castile soap
You won't have to use it all, but buying larger packs will save you money and gasoline to go to the store.
Step 2. Get some white wine vinegar and sodium carbonate
These ingredients are essential to remove fat and to get the cleanest dishes.
Step 3. Consider adding essential oils to give a touch of perfume
This step is not mandatory, but if you like the smell of fresh lemon, mint or lavender while washing the dishes, oils are an excellent addition to your detergent. Choose classic fragrances like eucalyptus, lavender or lemon.
Step 4. Buy an empty glass bottle, preferably with a sprayer or blower
You will need it to adjust the amount of detergent you use.
Method 2 of 2: Making Dishwashing Liquid
Step 1. Mix all the ingredients in a large bowl
Mix one and a half cups of hot water, half a cup of liquid castile soap, one tablespoon of white wine vinegar, one tablespoon of soda ash, and a few drops of essential oils.
Mix the ingredients together until you get a homogeneous mixture
Step 2. Let the mixture cool
Hot water is used to heat the components, but also helps to mix them together. Wait for the cleaner to cool before moving on to the next step.
As the mixture cools, stir occasionally to make sure the cleaner is blended
Step 3. Pour the cleaner into the bottle
With the help of a funnel, pour the detergent into the bottle.
Advice
- If you are allergic or if you can't find it, you can replace the castile soap with mild soap flakes. Heat the soap with hot water, wait for it to cool and mix it with the other ingredients.
- Use lemon or orange essential oil to remove fat more easily.
- Increase the antibacterial properties of the detergent by adding drops of lavender or eucalyptus essential oil.
