Seeding basically consists of connecting to other computers to allow other users to receive and download a file you own. This article assumes that you have downloaded a file and that it is ready to be shared.
Steps
Step 1. Leave the downloaded file in the same directory where the download was made
Don't move it.
Step 2. Leave the software or BitTorrent client you use open
Make sure you are connected to the internet.
Step 3. You will notice that the status is now in sharing mode
If the status does not change, make the change manually. Most BitTorrent clients perform the procedure automatically.
Step 4. Share the file until the share ratio is 1
If the ratio is 1, then you will have created an equal proportion between the files sent and downloaded.
Step 5. Continue sharing for as long as you want
Advice
- A classic and reliable client like uTorrent starts sharing automatically as soon as the download is completed, so using it is always convenient.
- If you don't reach a share ratio of 1, this won't give you any problems. However, consider that sharing as much as possible is a good manners rule.
- It is polite to share the same amount of downloaded data. It is by no means mandatory to reach a sharing ratio of 1 and this will not have any negative consequences. However, some sites may require a certain sharing ratio for the user to continue using the service.
Warnings
- Sharing copyrighted content without permission can cause serious consequences, including imprisonment and fines.
- The use and sharing of torrents are subject to the scrutiny of many anti-piracy bodies. Use this tool with caution.
