Forza 4 is a strategy game for two players, which can be played in its electronic version, on a computer, or in real life, via the board and pawns. The game board is a grid made up of columns in which the pawns are inserted. Each player, during his turn, will drop a pawn inside the chosen column. The object of the game is to create a vertical, horizontal or oblique sequence made up of 4 pieces. Although it may seem simple, a large amount of strategy is required and you need to acquire various techniques and tactics in order to win regularly.
Steps
Part 1 of 2: Basic Strategies
Step 1. Check the center of the board
One of the basic strategies for playing Forza 4 is to try to have as many pieces as possible concentrated in the center of the board. This way you will have a better chance of creating the winning sequence. Since the number of available columns is odd, having your checkers in the central one means having the ability to create winning sequences in any direction.
If you are the player to move first, place your checker in the lowest slot in the center column. In any case, try to insert as many pieces as possible within the central column of the game board
Step 2. Plan your moves in advance
Just like in chess, every move you make forces your opponent to make a counter move to prevent you from winning. This type of situation can be used to your advantage, so it is good to plan your moves in advance and above all to predict the possible moves of the opponent.
- For example, if you want to be sure that you can place your pawn in a particular position, you need to force your opponent to block your chance of winning at a different point on the board. This way your opponent will be forced to perform the only move that prevents you from winning, giving you the opportunity to execute the one you originally planned.
- Similarly, before making your move, check that it won't help your opponent. Your goal is to win and not make it easier for your opponent to win, so try to imagine how the opponent can use your move in his favor.
Step 3. Block your opponent
A very simple strategy, which can be adopted in any game, is to actively counter your opponent to prevent him from reaching victory. In Forza 4 this means putting yourself on the defensive, countering your opponent's every single move. You will then have to place your checkers in all positions that would allow them to complete a winning sequence.
- Whenever possible, try to prevent your opponent from creating a sequence of three tokens, as this leads to potentially only one move away from victory.
- In addition, preventing the formation of a sequence of three pieces will prevent your opponent from setting a trap for you by implementing a situation in which it is possible to create a sequence of 4 pieces in several places on the board or in multiple directions.
Step 4. Take advantage of your opponent's mistakes
In Forza 4 a classic mistake consists in not blocking the opponent's move, thus leaving him the possibility of winning easily. To prevent this situation from occurring, observe the game board carefully, analyzing the implications of each move. This way you can take full advantage of mistakes.
For example, if you have a horizontal sequence of three checkers and your opponent doesn't block it, your next move is to take advantage of the mistake and complete the winning lineup
Step 5. Play offensive
Despite the importance of the defensive aspect, that is to block the opponent's possible moves, the only way to win at Strength 4 is to create a sequence of 4 elements with your pawns. Here's how this scenario can be implemented:
- Build horizontal sequences that point towards the outside of the grid or board.
- Stack your pieces on top of each other to form vertical sequences.
- Use your checkers and your opponent's to create oblique alignments, using both rows and columns.
- When you have the chance, place your checkers in the boxes that allow you to create winning sequences in multiple directions. For example, if you have two pieces separated by a row or column, look for an intermediate location that allows you to connect them and have the opportunity to move vertically, horizontally or sideways.
Step 6. Do not occupy a slot that could cause you to lose the game
In Forza 4 this situation is characterized by a free space adjacent to a sequence of three opposing pawns which, if occupied, can give your opponent the chance to end the game in his favor. Sometimes this type of threat is difficult to detect because it is characterized by a slot on the board completely surrounded by empty spaces, which if occupied by one of your pieces would lead your opponent to an immediate victory.
Similarly, if you are trying to win, but you need a certain free slot to be occupied by your opponent, do not fill it with one of your tokens, otherwise your chance of victory will inevitably be nullified
Part 2 of 2: Advanced Tactics
Step 1. Train
There are more than 4 billion combinations with which a game can be completed; this means that it is impossible to memorize all the correct moves of any possible scenario. Practice makes perfect though, so train yourself to improve your strategy and your skills in planning moves and counter moves.
There are many versions of Forza 4 that you can use for practice; you can play them directly online or download them to computers and mobile devices. Alternatively, you can refine your strategy by studying the moves of predetermined scenarios
Step 2. Adopt a multi-directional attack strategy
This scenario occurs when you manage to create a sequence of 3 pieces that allows you to win the game by completing it in several different directions.
- When such a situation arises, you put your opponent in a position where his counter can only block one of your chances of victory, allowing you to end the game using one of the remaining moves.
- In addition to requiring a lot of planning, such a scenario also depends on your opponent's ability to notice and anticipate the moves of your strategy or not to make mistakes.
Step 3. Use the "7" strategy
This is a series of specific moves designed to position your pieces on the game board so that they form a figure in the shape of a "7". This conformation is represented by 3 horizontal pawns connected on the right to a diagonal sequence made up of 2 pawns.
- This configuration can be created in any way: as described above, upside down, upside down or even upside down and upside down.
- This game plan is a great strategy because it gives the player more opportunities to complete a winning sequence of 4 pawns.
Step 4. Use a "seventy" attack strategy
This is a similar approach to multi-directional strategy, but on a much larger scale. As the name suggests, this strategy offers the possibility to end the game by developing a winning sequence in seven different directions. To be able to put it into practice, you need to create a particular configuration of pawns by checking the following boxes on the board:
- The middle position of the lowest row.
- On the second row, starting from the bottom, you need to occupy the positions adjacent to the central one.
- On the third row, always starting from the bottom, it is necessary to occupy the three central positions (horizontally).
- Finally, it occupies the fourth and fifth boxes of the central column starting from the bottom.
