This tutorial will teach you how to draw a cute little dog.
Steps
Method 1 of 4: Cute Little Dog in Cartoon Style
Step 1. Trace the contours of the dog's head and body
For the head make an oval with a slightly pointed side and draw a cross inside it. Make an oval for the body as well, this time with a slightly thicker back. Use a pencil for the sketch, so it will be easier to erase too many lines later.
Step 2. Trace the contours of the ears and legs
Step 3. Add the queue
In our drawing, the tail is pointing up. This usually happens if the dog is happy or excited.
Step 4. Using the cross on the head as a guide, draw the puppy's eyes, nose and mouth
Remember that a dog's nose is protruding, so following the perspective of our drawing you will need to make it go slightly to the left.
Step 5. Review the sketch lines you want to keep
To give the impression of the hair, you can draw soft curved lines.
Step 6. Add spots if you want
Many dogs have some scattered on their fur.
Step 7. Erase the sketch lines you no longer need
Step 8. Color the drawing
Method 2 of 4: Sitting Puppy
Step 1. Trace the contours of the head and body
For the head make a circle with a cross inside, while for the body draw an oval vertically.
Step 2. Trace the outlines of the puppy's paws
Make the hind legs look shorter, as it keeps them bent when in this position.
Step 3. Make a sketch of the ears and tail
Step 4. Following the cross, draw the puppy's eyes, nose and mouth
Step 5. Refine the head and ears with short strokes of light pencil scattered here and there, to give the impression of the fur
Step 6. Draw the rest of the body using the same light strokes for the hair effect
Step 7. Erase the lines you no longer need from the sketch
Step 8. Color the drawing
Method 3 of 4: Cartoon Puppy: Sitting Position
Step 1. Draw a circle and a semi oval
One for the head and the other for the main part of the dog's body.
Step 2. Add guidelines as a reference for the center of the muzzle and other parts of the body such as legs and tail
Step 3. Add the face shape, muzzle and eyes
Step 4. Draw the main characteristics of the puppy
Facial expression and accessories may vary according to your preferences.
Step 5. Add some details
Add details like fur, accessory details, paws, etc.
Step 6. Add some stains on his coat as well, if you feel it is necessary
Step 7. Color
Method 4 of 4: Realistic Dog: Front view while running
Step 1. Sketch the main body of the dog, such as a small circle for the head and a larger one for the body
Step 2. Add the reference lines for the legs and ears
Step 3. Sketch the lines for the tail and jaw
Step 4. Add the shape of the legs
Step 5. Add face guidelines for eyes, muzzle and mouth
Step 6. Add more details in the face
In the example, the tongue is drawn outside the mouth. The eyes are small circles in the area above the muzzle.
Step 7. Draw the basic outlines of the puppy
Erase the pencil marks. You can choose whether to give the dog a soft appearance or not. Adding lines for the fur would be a great detail to add.
