Want to have pancake breakfast, but can't use the stove? Follow these step-by-step instructions to cook them in the microwave.
Ingrediants
- Half a tablespoon of butter
- 5 tablespoons (100 g) of 00 flour
- 1 large egg
- Half a tablespoon of milk
- 1 tablespoon of olive or seed oil (optional)
- 1 pinch of salt (optional)
- 3 tablespoons maple syrup (optional) - for an even sweeter version, put the maple syrup in the batter
Steps
Part 1 of 3: Bake Pancakes on a Plate
Step 1. Blend the flour, egg, butter and milk
Whisk the egg and half of the milk in a bowl. Gradually add the flour until you get a smooth, full-bodied batter. Stir until there are no more lumps, then add the remaining milk. It is important that the batter is quite thick so that it does not run.
Step 2. Butter the dish to prevent the batter from sticking
It doesn't take much, but you can abound if you want to make pancakes even tastier. If you don't want to use butter, you can replace it with olive oil, seed oil or margarine.
Step 3. Pour about 180ml of batter into the dish
The size of the pancake depends on the size of the plate. Keep in mind that the larger the pancake, the longer it will take to cook.
Step 4. Put the dish in the microwave for 60 seconds
You can increase or decrease the cooking time if you know your microwave is more or less powerful than normal. If the batter is still runny, let it cook for another 10 seconds, but be careful not to overdo it. You have to keep in mind that the pancake will remain pale as you are not using the grill. If you overcook it, it will harden and not brown in any case.
Step 5. Repeat the process to prepare more
Put the pancake on a clean plate. If the one you used for cooking is still coated in butter, pour another serving of batter into it. If not, butter it again to make sure the pancake doesn't stick. Cook the second pancake for 1 minute or until the batter is no longer runny. Repeat until you've made all the pancakes you want.
Part 2 of 3: Bake Pancakes in a Cup
Step 1. Consider baking pancakes in cups
The cooking time is the same as when you cook them on the plate. If you have to prepare a lot of them, it is easier to use a plate, but the cup is more innovative and single-serving.
Step 2. Fill the cup about 1/3 or 1/4 full with flour or batter mix
Pour the water into the cup (about half the cup capacity) until the mixture is moderately mushy. Stir with a teaspoon to remove any lumps. You can add more water if the batter is too thick or more flour if it is too runny.
Step 3. Put the cup in the microwave for about 90 seconds
The pancakes will be fully cooked when there is no more liquid in the cup. If the batter is still runny, return the cup to the oven for another 30 seconds.
Step 4. Garnish the pancake directly into the cup and eat it with a fork
When fully cooked, it will be ready to eat. Pour the syrup, butter or sugar over it and enjoy your pancake.
Part 3 of 3: Serving Cooked Pancakes in the Microwave
Step 1. Garnish the pancakes
If you have a sweet tooth, you can use sugar, syrup, hazelnut cream, or whipped cream. Spread butter over it for a rich yet simple topping. Alternatively, you can accompany the pancakes with meats, cheeses and other savory ingredients for a tasty and filling breakfast.
Step 2. Microwave the bacon and serve it with pancakes
Line a plate with two overlapping sheets of kitchen paper. Place the bacon strips on the plate and cover them with another sheet of paper. Microwave the bacon for 3.5 minutes, then serve it with the pancakes.
