A hood combined with a microwave oven makes efficient use of the space in the kitchen by stacking the microwave and stove, and also integrating lighting and ventilation into the structure of the microwave itself. When assembling this oven, it is preferable that the ventilation is already present. If not, it is better for a professional to do this job - an amateur installation could carry the serious risk of leaks of all kinds, from below and from above.
Steps
Step 1. Turn off the power to the stove and nearby outlets
This often means shutting down everything in the kitchen, so make sure all ongoing processes are finished before starting.
Step 2. Check that there is no current in the hood by pressing the switch
If it lights up, carefully check the electrical circuit until you remove the power permanently.
Step 3. Locate the currently mounted hood mounting screws
Unscrew them to remove it from the wall and ceiling.
From this point on it is best to continue with an assistant on hand, as it will be difficult to practice all the steps on your own
Step 4. Remove the hood from the wall and cupboard
Locate the insulating blouses and unscrew them to remove them completely.
Step 5. Measure the height and width of the microwave
Step 6. Draw a horizontal line on the wall just below the cupboard to match the height of your microwave, making sure there is enough space on the hob as directed by your appliance manufacturer
Mark the width of the microwave on the wall with two vertical lines, at the point where the oven will be mounted.
Step 7. Locate all the cables in the area below the lines you drew
Use an electrical wire detector for this, triggering it along the wall and marking the spots where the light turns on.
Step 8. Secure the microwave mounting plate along the wall, placing the mounting holes beyond the cables
Mark the position of the holes by passing the tip of the pencil through them, thus leaving a mark on the wall.
Step 9. Create pilot holes for each marked point, using a drill bit about 3 millimeters narrower than the diameter of the mounting screws supplied with the microwave
Step 10. Secure the rear mounting plate and screw it in by placing the screws in the pilot holes, through the mounting holes
Step 11. Lift the microwave to its place on the riser plate
Have an assistant hold it in place while you fix it at the ceiling air duct.
Step 12. Connect the microwave wires to the cables that previously connected to the hood and secure them in place with clamps
Step 13. Secure the microwave in place on the mounting bracket using the tool that came with the oven
Step 14. Turn the power back on
Try the microwave, fan and lighting.
