The British are often considered to be great tea enthusiasts. This article will show you how to make and enjoy tea the way millions of English, Scottish, Welsh and Irish people do it every day. Impress your British friends with real tea!
Steps
Step 1. Boil the water
Use fresh water - if you use water that has been in the pot for a long time, you will get a grainy, slimy tea.
Step 2. Use simple tea bags
Step 3. While the water is boiling, place one sachet in each cup
Few people use cups and saucers at home. Large mugs are more common.
Step 4. Alternatively, put boiling water in the teapot and then add one sachet for each person
Step 5. Pour boiling water over the sachet and stir briefly
It is very important that the water is boiling, in order to release all the aroma of the tea.
Step 6. Wait
Tea takes time to develop its flavor. This stage is called infusion.
Step 7. Remove the sachet
You can add it to your garden compost bin.
Step 8. Add milk and sugar to taste
Step 9. Mix
Step 10. Enjoy your tea
Advice
- Remember, boiling water is essential, hot water is not enough.
- Do not put milk in herbal tea.
- Pay attention to which cup you use. Brits are very fond of their favorite cup.
- Brewing tea from loose leaves requires special equipment, and it's not worth it if you only need to brew one cup. Limit yourself to sachets for daily use.
- You don't need fancy pastries and tiny sandwiches. A couple of Digestive biscuits straight from the package will suffice.
- Don't worry about honey and lemon. They can be great additions on special occasions, but very few people use them regularly. Limit yourself to milk (and sugar if you like).
Warnings
- Be careful with boiling water.
- Hot tea bags can also burn you - place them on a plate when you remove them from the cup.
- Never disparage tea in front of a Brit - it is considered a national pride.
