This article explains how to use a Gamecube controller with a Windows computer. In order to connect you will need to get a Wii U adapter to connect the Gamecube controller to. In order to use the controller to play Gamecube or Wii games running on a software emulator, such as Dolphin, you will also need to install a specific driver.
Steps
Step 1. Visit the website https://zadig.akeo.ie using your computer's internet browser
This is the Zadig website. From this page you can download the USB driver that will allow you to use the controller by connecting it to your computer. The driver in question also works correctly in combination with the Dolphin emulator.
Step 2. Click on the Zadig 2.3 link
It is located below the "Download" box.
Step 3. Install the Zadig driver
The full name of the installation file is "Zadig-2.3.exe". Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the driver installation. By default, the file will be stored in your computer's "Download" folder.
Step 4. Connect the Gamecube controller connector to the Wii U adapter
Now connect the USB connector of the adapter to a free USB port on your computer.
If your Gamecube controller adapter has a switch, switch it to "Wii U" mode if you plan to play games running through the Dolphin software emulator
Step 5. Launch the Zadig program
It features a blue icon with the letter "Z" inside.
Step 6. Click on the Options menu

Step 9. Enter the value "057E 0337" into the "USB ID" text field
It is located below the "Driver" text field.
If "WUP-028" does not appear in the drop-down menu, try connecting the Gamecube controller to another USB port on your computer
Step 10. Select the "WinUSB" option from the "Driver" drop-down menu
This is the drop-down menu on the right of the window near the "Driver" item.
Step 11. Click the Replace Driver button
It is displayed in the lower center of the program window.
Step 12. Click the Yes button when prompted
This will confirm your willingness to change the system configuration. You should now be able to use the Gamecube controller to play games running through the Dolphin emulator for Windows.
