How to Write a Review on TripAdvisor: 9 Steps

TripAdvisor is a traveler-facing website featuring reviews of thousands of destinations, attractions, hotels, restaurants, museums and more around the world. If you've been to a place and want to share your experience, thoughts and advice with other tourists like you, why not write a review? This article will show you how.

Steps

Step 1. Enter the TripAdvisor site

When you are in the homapage, click on the “Write a review” section. IMPORTANT: You can only submit a review if you create an account or register using Facebook, but this is unclear until you have written the review and given the 'Submit' command.

Step 2. Choose a place you want to review

This can be a hotel, a holiday home, an attraction or a restaurant. Click on the chosen option to select it and find the place you are looking for by entering some keywords in the search box and selecting the place you would like to review. Once selected, click on "Write a review".

• If you can't find the place you are looking for, you may have spelled it incorrectly, perhaps you have selected the wrong city or the place may not yet have been included in the TripAdvisor list. If the latter is the problem, do not hesitate to notify TripAdvisor with a review and you will receive an email when your review is accepted.
• You must have created an account to do this.

Step 3. Assign a score to the place you have been or visited

Do you think it's good, bad, or just plain satisfying? For example, you may have stayed at the Hyatt Santa Barbara Hotel. The room was nice, while the service was just ok, not bad, but not excellent either. You should also keep in mind the TripAdvisor rating scale.

• 1 star - Bad
• 2 stars - Poor
• 3 stars - Average
• 4 stars - Very good
• 5 stars - Excellent

• You can rate the place you review by clicking on the circles under “Your overall rating for this property”.

  

  Step 4. Write a title for your review

  The title should describe your trip concisely and you may want to add additional information, such as your opinion about the place you have been or visited and what it looks like. specific positive or negative. For example, instead of writing “Bad trip !!!”, try using a more detailed sentence like “The trip was bad - Rude service and impaired sleep quality”. Other travelers who read your review will understand your opinion better if you choose a specific and concise title, rather than simply writing something like "Bad Trip" or "Very Very Nice" about the place you visited.

  

  Step 5. Write the actual review

  Start by writing who you traveled with and the purpose of your trip. Then you can focus on information about the actual trip and the quality of things, such as value for money and your opinion on the service. You can also provide some background information, such as what you thought about the room if you are reviewing a hotel or holiday home, your opinion on excursions, on the things you have seen or done if you review an attraction, the dishes you ordered if review a restaurant. You will need to provide information on what you have done in the places you have visited, as this is one of the things travelers want to know.

  • Try not to provide too many outline information. Readers also want to know about the actual journey.

    

    Step 6. Let them know who you traveled with and the reason for your trip

    You may have traveled with your family, on business or alone to make time for yourself. You can let readers know the reason for your trip by choosing one of the options under "What kind of trip was it?". The options are as follows: "Business", "Couple", "Family Sharing", "Friends" and "Alone".

    

    Step 7. Remember when you traveled

    One thing readers want to know is the period and date you made the trip. You can provide this information by selecting the recent month you traveled from the drop-down menu.

    

    Step 8. Evaluate other aspects of your trip (optional)

    By evaluating other aspects of your trip, readers will know your opinion on each aspect (quality, cleanliness, service, etc.). To do this, click on the circles for each option that you find under “Can you provide some more details? (optional).

    

    Step 9. When done, click "Submit your review"

    If you want to see a preview of the review, click on "Preview review".

    • Remember to tick the appropriate box to confirm that you understand that TripAdvisor has a zero tolerance policy for false reviews.

      This is very important because if you write a false review (a review about a place you have never visited or a review that contains lies that you have visited a certain place), you could get into trouble.

    • Please note that in order for your review to be published, you have to have an account and a minimum of 13 years of age. If you don't have an account, you can create one by clicking on "Register" and following the instructions to create your account.
