Figuring out how to get to the first page of Google can seem like a very complex task. Google uses many tools and algorithms that are updated regularly to determine the order in which websites appear in search results. By following a few simple steps, you can create a website that appears on the first page of Google search results. Read on to find out how.
Steps
Part 1 of 4: Editing the contents
Step 1. Create high quality content
The best thing to do to increase your ranking with Google is to create a high quality website. Hire a professional designer to create the pages if it's possible (and if it's not possible, at least make sure the site doesn't look like it was made in 1995). You can also focus on the quality of the text. Google likes to see a lot of text with correct grammar and spelling. It will also need to be exactly what people were looking for when they previewed the site - if visitors immediately leave the site and look for something else, your ranking will be lowered.
Step 2. Create original, non-counterfeit content
You will be penalized for duplicating your content on different pages of your site and you can also be penalized for stealing someone else's content. It's not a matter of getting caught by a person, Google bots do all the heavy lifting. Instead, just focus on creating high-quality content that is yours.
Step 3. Embed appropriate and non-inappropriate images
Google also looks at images (image quality also plays a certain role!). Find images that match the text to add experience. Don't steal the pictures though! This can damage your ranking. Use Creative Commons images or your own images.
Step 4. Use keywords
Use Google Analytics to find the best keywords for your business (this process is described in the "Using Google" section below). So, use those keywords in the text. Don't overload the text with the keyword; Google will notice this and penalize you. But it should be used at least several times.
Part 2 of 4: Change the code
Step 1. Choose a good domain name
If you can do this, enter your primary keyword in your domain name as the first word. For example, if you have a wine shop, choose a domain name like "enoteca.com". To increase your ranking, you can also use a country TLD (top level domain, such as. Com) if you have a local business. You will be at an advantage for local searches, but this could hurt searches outside of your country. Of course this doesn't matter if your business is local. At the very least, avoid replacing words with numbers (and other 90s-style tricks) and avoid using a subdomain.
- This also applies to subpages. Use descriptive and valid URLs for each page of the site. Give the names of pages that tell something to search engines and users instead of using generic names like "page 1". Do something like "enoteca.com/weddings", for the wedding holidays and catering page.
- Keywords in subdomains also work in your favor. So, for example, if you have a section of your site that is for wholesaling, use an address like "ingrosso.enoteca.com".
Step 2. Use the descriptions
The Website Code allows you to add invisible descriptions for images and pages. Using them and trying to insert at least one keyword in the text will help rankings. If you don't know how to create html code, ask the web designer for help.
Step 3. Use headers
Headers are another part of the website code where you can add text. Using them and trying to insert at least one keyword in the text will help rankings. If you don't know how to create html code, ask the web designer for help.
Part 3 of 4: Participate in communities
Step 1. Work on creating high quality backlinks
Backlinks are obtained when another website, preferably one that gets more hits than yours, links to your page. Find websites that are in the same industry as yours and see if they'd be willing to do some cross-promotion. You can also contact relevant blogs and ask for guest postings, giving you another chance to receive links to your site.
Remember that these backlinks must be of high quality. Google can see the difference. Don't comment in spam sections trying to create backlinks. You will be penalized for this behavior
Step 2. Get involved in social media
Social media likes are rewarded more than ever these days with Google, especially with subjects that are currently relevant. This means that you need to create a social media account and try to build a base of followers who want to read your pages and share them with friends. Remember: the trick is not to spam!
Step 3. Be active in the online community
Update your site regularly. Google rewards sites that have regular maintenance and updates. This means that if you have been ignoring your website since 2005, you are in trouble. Find little ways to update it: new prices, news posts every two months, photos from events, etc.
Part 4 of 4: Using Google
Step 1. Learn to use keywords
Keywords are Google's most powerful tool for website owners. It is a tool found within the Google AdSense website. For free, it is allowed to search and find what people are looking for. For example, for the company, search for the term "winery" (applying the necessary filters). Click on the ideas and keywords tab and it will tell you how often people are looking for such a term, what the competition is like, and also suggest some alternatives that are often searched for. Search for the most popular keywords that are relevant to you and use them.
Step 2. Learn to use Trends
Google Trends explicitly tells you what changes in interest to a topic are over time. Search for your term and look at the month rankings when you can expect a peak. Smart website owners will be able to guess why there is an increase and find a way to meet that need and stand out.
Step 3. Add the physical location of the business to Google maps if possible
Businesses listed in Google Maps are displayed first when a user does a regional search. It's easy to add a list; simply log into your Google account and fill out the online forms.
