This article explains how to add a job on Facebook. You can do this on both the desktop and mobile versions.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: On Desktop
Step 1. Open Facebook
Visit using a browser. If you are logged in, the Facebook News Section will open.
If you are not logged in, enter your e-mail address (or phone number) and password in the top right to log in
Step 2. Click on the three horizontal dots next to your name
At the top left you will see your name and profile photo. Next to it you will find a button with three horizontal dots: click on it.
Step 3. Click Edit Profile
This button will appear below the horizontal dots button.
Step 4. Scroll down and click ＋ Edit information in the Information section
It's at the bottom of the page.
Step 5. Click on Work and Education
This tab appears on the left side of the page.
Step 6. Click Add a Job
This link is located in the "Work" section at the top of the page.
Step 7. Enter the details associated with the work done
Fill in the following fields:
- Agency- Type in the company name, then click on a relevant company in the drop-down menu. If you want to add your company, click on Create [company] at the bottom of the drop-down menu.
- Position: enter your job title.
- City: add the city where you work.
- Description- You can add a short description of the job, but it is optional.
- Period of time: select a start date. You can also remove the check mark from the "I still work here" box to add the date you left this job.
Step 8. Click Save changes
It's a dark blue button located at the bottom of the section. This will save your workplace details and add it to your profile.
Method 2 of 2: On a Mobile Device
Step 1. Open Facebook
Tap the application icon, which looks like a white "f" on a blue background, to open it. If you are logged in, the News Section will open.
Enter your email address (or phone number) and password to log in if you are not logged in
Step 2. Tap ☰
This button can appear at the bottom right (iPhone) or at the top of the screen (Android). A menu will open.
Step 3. Tap your name
You will see it at the top of the screen. Your profile page will open.
Step 4. Tap Edit Profile
This option is located at the top of the page, under your name and profile photo.
Step 5. Scroll down and tap Edit information
This option is located almost at the bottom of the page.
Step 6. Tap ＋ Add Work Experience
This option is located in the "Work" section. You may need to scroll down to find it if you have already put several jobs on the list.
Step 7. Enter the details associated with the job
Fill in the following fields:
- Agency: Enter the name of the workplace. If you want to add an existing one, type its name, then tap the company page in the dropdown menu that appears.
- Position: enter your job title (for example "Manager").
- City: Enter the city where the workplace is located. This option is mandatory, unless the following box is checked.
- It is not a physical place: check this box if your work is not in a specific place.
- Description: Add a brief description of the job (optional).
- From: add the date you started work.
- TO: Add the date you left work.
- I still work here: Check this box if you currently work in the place you added, or remove the check mark if you left it.
Step 8. Tap Save
It's at the bottom of the page. This will allow you to save the details associated with the workplace.
Step 9. Tap Save
This option is located at the bottom of the "Edit Profile" page. The workplace will then be added to the profile.
Advice
- Placing a job can help Facebook recommend friends who work in the same company to you.
- If you can't update your work information, try making the changes using another browser, computer, or mobile device. You may need to temporarily disable third-party extensions downloaded to your browser.
