If you own a Glock, it is essential to be able to take it apart and put it back together in order to be able to carry out the general maintenance that the firearm needs to undergo periodically. Although there are several models, the disassembly procedure is always more or less the same. Use this safe guide to take your firearm apart in minutes.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Unload the Gun
Step 1. Point the gun in a safe direction
Make sure the firearm is pointed in a direction where the inadvertent release of a bullet will not cause physical harm to you or to third parties.
Keep your finger away from the trigger and outside the guard. This will help you prevent accidental fire
Step 2. Remove the magazine
Press the magazine release button and slide it out with your other hand.
Step 3. Open the shopping cart
While continuing to point the gun in a safe direction, pull the slide back and lock it to keep it open with the slide stop lever. You can push the stop lever up with your thumb while holding the slide pulled back with the other hand, this way the slide will stay open.
Step 4. Check for any remaining bullets
Once the slide is open, look inside the chamber to make sure there are no ammo left inside. You can use your little finger to drag out any ammo in the chamber.
Check three times to see if there are any bullets left in the gun before you start taking it apart
Method 2 of 3: Remove the Cart
Step 1. Put on your safety glasses
There are a variety of spring components that could cause serious eye damage. The glasses will also protect you from solvents and lubricants.
Step 2. Close the cart
Return the carriage to its original position by lowering the stop lever. Point the pistol in a safe direction and pull the trigger to release the firing pin.
Step 3. Grab the gun
Hold it in one hand, with four fingers around the top of the cart while your thumb stays firmly on the handle.
Step 4. Pull the carriage back
Using the four fingers on the top of the cart, pull it back just a couple of millimeters. If the carriage slides too far back, you will need to repeat the procedure and pull it all the way back again.
Step 5. Lower the carriage lock
Using your other hand, lower both sides of the lever that locks the carriage. Push the slide forward with your four fingers until it is completely separated from the gun body.
Method 3 of 3: Remove the Barrel
Step 1. Remove the spring
Push the spring forward slightly and lift it off the barrel. Be very careful when doing this because the spring is under pressure.
Step 2. Pull the barrel out of the body by holding it by the outer lugs
Raise the barrel as you push it forward slightly until you are fully out of the gun body.
Step 3. Clean the gun
Once you have disassembled your Glock it is possible to proceed with maintenance / cleaning. To properly clean and maintain your gun you will not need to disassemble it further.
Step 4. Reassemble the gun
Once cleaning is finished, the Glock can be reassembled with the same operations above but clearly in reverse. You will not need to hold down the slide lock when reinserting it into the gun body.
Advice
Remember to wear safety glasses, as there are spring components that could accidentally hurt your eyes
