Would you like to have a lizard as a pet? Here's how to do it.
Steps
Step 1. Have a look around the house and all around until you find one to capture
Step 2. Quickly and gently place one hand on the lizard's back and with the other take it by the hips, exerting enough pressure to keep it from escaping
Step 3. Chances are he'll start wiggling from side to side to bite you and if he does, don't be scared
Loosen your grip so it can dangle around your mouth and after a minute or so, gently biting you it will try to free itself and escape. Repeat the second step.
Step 4. Put it in a jar with holes in the lid (just for a while)
Step 5. Get a terrarium and put a lot of branches, leaves and maybe even a rope in it for the lizard to climb into
Cover the bottom with bark.
Step 6. You can put small bowls of water around (a shell is a good choice), but you can also spray water 2-3 times a day
It is advisable to always keep 5-7 crickets or small grasshoppers in the terrarium. Place flies from time to time so your lizard can keep exercising.
Step 7. You must also have a UVB lamp if you want to take care of your pet
It's important. You also need to put a heating mat on the bottom of the terrarium and keep it at a low temperature most of the time. Keep an eye on the mat for a few days to see if it works if you decide to use one.
Advice
- Do not to use the heating rocks because they could literally cook your lizard.
- Do not release your lizard back into the wild after keeping it in captivity for a long time.
-
Do not take more than one male lizard.
If you are attempting to breed, make sure you have enough space and only one male; the best combination for breeding is one male and four females
- To catch a lizard, take a medium-sized box and have it crawl across the floor in its direction. Then, knock it over on the lizard before it escapes. Gently slide a piece of cardboard (larger than the box) under the box.
- The lizard will not eat something inanimate.
- If you use a terrarium with a lid (not recommended) be sure to seal any possible escape routes.
Warnings
- The lizard may bite.
- Make sure there is humidity in the terrarium and that there is the correct temperature.
- If the lizard escapes try to find it immediately.
- Leftover food can be dangerous for your lizard while it is sleeping.
