The coin game is a rather popular drinking game that requires players to bounce a coin on a flat surface, trying to land it, without further bouncing, in a glass (or cup) placed on the table. It is quite a popular game at parties and companies. In some variants the glass in which the coin must bounce will be empty and each player will have a separate glass to drink from, while in other variants they will have to drink from the glass used as a target.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Standard Coin Game
Step 1. Players take turns shooting, usually going counter-clockwise around the table
If the coin lands in the glass, the player will choose another player and force him to drink, either from his personal glass or from the glass containing the coin. The player's turn will not end until he makes a mistake.
Step 2. After making a mistake, the player will pass the coin to the next player
In some cases the first player may ask for another chance, thus being entitled to an additional shot. A correct roll will allow him to continue shooting normally, while a wrong roll will force him to take a penalty drink.
Step 3. If a player hits the target three times in a row, he can invent a new rule
The rules must be creative and fun: they could, for example, require you to perform a certain ritual rhyme of drinking, or prohibit the use of common words. If a player breaks the rules he will have to drink as a penalty. As the game progresses and players start to get tipsy, the rules may become difficult to keep in mind.
Step 4. If one player were to hit the top edge of the glass, the others might call it a "challenge"
If the player misses the next shot he will have to drink as many times as there are challengers, but if he does it correctly, the challengers will have to drink! The challenged, however, is not forced to accept the challenge. He can simply flip the coin and let the game continue as normal.
Step 5. Players are disqualified when they are unable or unwilling to drink any more alcohol
The last remaining player will be the winner.
Method 2 of 2: Faster Coin Play
Step 1. Another popular variation of the game is to turn it into a quick and competitive challenge, with two coins and two empty plastic cups (you can also use glasses, but they are easier to break)
There must be at least four players. Two players from opposite sides of the table will be chosen, who must start shooting at the same time. Each will have a coin and a cup at their disposal. Each player will have to try to bounce their coin into the cup as fast as possible. If a player makes a mistake, he will have to try again quickly. Once successful, he will have to pass the coin and cup to the player on his right. If a player manages to get the coin into the cup on the first try, he will be able to pass the coin and cup to any player, except the one who is already throwing (unless it is the player directly to his right, in which case it is possible to pass them. normally).
Step 2. If a player finds himself with both coins in his hand at the same time, he loses
It can happen in the event that a player is trying to get the coin into the cup, without succeeding, while the player on his left succeeds in the enterprise and passes him a second coin and a second cup. The player on the left can symbolize defeat by immediately stacking his cup on top of the loser's one. Doing so will also prevent him from making another shot, as the player on the right will often not immediately realize that he has lost.
Step 3. At this point in the game the loser is allowed a final shot in the two stacked cups
If he makes a mistake, he will have to drink the penalty, usually consisting of a shot or a large (or full) dose of a drink. If, on the other hand, the player manages to execute the shot, the other players will have to submit to the penalty. Some rules require all other players to drink, while some require only the player to the left of the challenged to drink. Sometimes the player on the left will also be given the opportunity to take a redemption roll: both will have to keep shooting until one of them fails.
Step 4. Another variant provides that the player on the left has to spin a coin and that the loser has to continue drinking beer or a cocktail until the coin stops spinning
Players could try to make the coin go round, or to stop it with a finger to make it stand up (in this case, the drinking player will have to finish the drink in full). The challenged will still have to keep drinking until the others allow the coin to fall. In the event that the challenged player succeeds in making the saving throw, on the contrary, everyone else will have to drink until the challenged player manages to spin the coin.
Advice
-
What happens if the coin enters the glass:
Name someone and get them to drink
- There are many variations and special rules on the internet. Almost all the sites that deal with alcoholic games, in fact, provide an explanation of the game of the coin.
- The most common drink is beer, as it fills more and progressively decreases the casting accuracy, but increasing the difficulty more gradually than a hard alcohol. In Italy red wine is also often used.
- Players will have to decide in advance the amount to drink as a penalty. It will depend on the variant played and the players' thirst for alcohol.
-
What happens when a coin is pushed in three times in a row?
- You can make up a rule!
- The three rolls are valid only if they are made in the same round.
- It can only be called the "challenge" if the coin touches the edge of the glass and then falls out!
-
Here are some examples of fun rules:
- The Bartender: A player is chosen to pour drinks to the others.
- Acceptance: Nobody can "accept" anything from anyone else.
- Sliding: no object should be slid for any reason.
- Change of names: the names of the players are reversed and whoever makes a mistake drinks!
- Change of letter: you cannot pronounce words that begin with a certain letter, such as B (for example, instead of "drink", you will have to say something else, such as "pevi").
- Prohibited proper names: the proper names of other players cannot be used.
-
Challenges?
- Challenges occur when the person tossing the coin fails to get it into the glass, but hits the edge. The other players, at will, can challenge the player who took the shot.
- If the challenged hits the edge of the glass again, he will be automatically challenged by all the other players.
-
Basic rules:
- You cannot drink with the hand with which you write! Whoever gets caught will have to drink.
- You can determine the amount to drink with the width of your finger.
- The game proceeds counterclockwise.
- Whoever misses a shot must pass the coin.
-
Invent a new rule:
Anything goes really well
- Players will have to shoot from a set distance, typically 10 to 30cm. Any distance will do, as long as it is the same for everyone.
