Carnation-like paper flowers are quick and easy to make using various methods and materials. The result is a graceful composition or decoration suitable for parties.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Fan-assisted
Step 1. Arrange several sheets of tissue paper on top of each other
Use at least 5 sheets, but if you want to get a richer corolla you can use more sheets. The sheets can be of the same color or of various colors depending on the effect you want to achieve.
Step 2. Align the edges of the sheets of tissue paper
You need to work with a square or rectangle.
Step 3. Fold the tissue paper like an accordion or fan
Each fold should be 2.5 to 3.8cm wide.
Step 4. Make sharp creases
If necessary, place a thin cloth over the folded paper and iron it to smooth out the creases.
Step 5. Fold the paper in half
Place a pipe cleaner in the center and twist it to secure it. It can also serve as a stem for the flower.
Step 6. Cut the edge of the paper
Use scissors to make a pointed or rounded edge.
Step 7. Spread the two sides of the folded paper apart
Separate the individual sheets by gently pulling them towards the center of the flower. Repeat this for all the sheets.
Step 8. Finished
Gently pull the individual sheets towards the center of the flower.
Method 2 of 3: with the Round Cut
Step 1. Lay 12 sheets of tissue paper on top of each other
You can fold them up to 48 layers to save time.
Step 2. Draw 7.5 cm diameter circles on the paper
Cut all the sheets, and in the end you will have 48 circles of paper. (Note: if you need to make fewer flowers you can use less paper).
Step 3. Stack 12 circles
Secure the paper circles with paper clips and make two holes in the center with a pointed object (such as a large sewing needle).
Step 4. Run a pipe cleaner through the holes
After passing it through one hole, fold the pipe cleaner and pass it through the other to stop the paper. The pipe cleaner will also act as a stem.
Step 5. Separate the sheets of tissue paper
Gently pull the individual sheets towards the center of the flower and rub the base of each sheet well to shape the flower.
Method 3 of 3: with toilet paper
Step 1. Take a 15 to 25 square piece of toilet paper
Detach the piece from the roll but do not separate the individual squares.
Step 2. Fold the paper like an accordion or fan
Each fold should be approximately 2.5cm wide.
Step 3. Secure the folded paper in the middle with twine or thread
Step 4. Enlarge the folded edges
Hold the center and gently twist each side towards the center of the flower to ruffle the edges.
Step 5. Fold a piece of green crepe paper to shape it into a bow tie
Glue it to the back of the flower to make the leaves.
Step 6. Finished
Advice
- If you want to have scented paper flowers add a sprinkle of perfume or a drop of essential oil placed in the center.
- Color the edges of the paper circles used in the second method with a marker while they are all still stacked. Once the flower is done, the petals will look very natural.
- The toilet paper method is the easiest if you want small children to participate as well.
- The more paper you use, the thicker and richer the flower will be.
- If you want to make a daisy use yellow tissue paper for the inside of the flower and white for the outside.
