Oat chowder is healthy, filling, and easy to make, especially if you get organized the night before. The recipes illustrated in this article can be customized using the ingredients of your choice among different types of milk, fresh or dried fruit and spices. The preparation can take place in two ways. If you want breakfast to be fresh and quick, leave the oatmeal in the refrigerator overnight. If you prefer a hot breakfast with an intense flavor, opt for a slow cooker oatmeal soup.

Steps
Method 1 of 2: Refrigerator Oat Soup
Step 1. Choose a container
You can use any container with a lid. Generally, glass jars are used because they are practical for both storing and serving oatmeal.
Step 2. Use your preferred amount of rolled oats
One serving usually requires ½ cup of rolled oats, but you can use more if you want to make a large serving or for several people.
Step 3. Add a proportional amount of milk
If using ½ cup of rolled oats, add ½ cup of milk. You can use cow, almond or any other type of milk.
If you are going to add a large dose of fruit rich in water, you can reduce the amount of the liquid, using about 60-120 ml. Fresh or frozen fruit releases large amounts of water. This step is particularly important for those who want to achieve a thick consistency
Step 4. Incorporate 1 teaspoon of chia or flax seeds
These ingredients improve the nutritional value of oatmeal and ensure a longer lasting feeling of satiety.
Flaked oats can be substituted with 4 tablespoons of chia seeds. The texture of the final product will be similar to tapioca pudding
Step 5. Add 1 teaspoon of sweetener, such as honey, muscovado sugar, or maple syrup
You can also use 1 tablespoon of cocoa powder or peanut butter to sweeten the oatmeal.
If you want the oatmeal to be even sweeter, add 1 tablespoon of sweetener
Step 6. Measure 1-1.5 g of spices, such as cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice mix
Step 7. Add ½ cup of frozen, fresh or canned fruit
Mix the ingredients well with a spoon. Make sure you cover the oatmeal almost entirely with the liquid.
If you want to use a banana, mash half or whole, then put it in the jar
Step 8. Close the lid tightly
Put the jar in the refrigerator overnight or for at least 5 hours. The oats will absorb the liquid, so they don't need to be cooked.
Step 9. Remove the jar from the refrigerator the next morning
To add crunchy notes, add a handful of chopped nuts. Pour in a little more milk (1 tablespoon to ½ cup, depending on the consistency you prefer).
Step 10. Stir again and eat the oatmeal straight from the jar
Method 2 of 2: Prepare Oat Soup Using a Slow Cooker
Step 1. Before going to bed, grease the inside surface of a large slow cooker using non-stick cooking spray, vegetable oil, or butter
Step 2. Slice 180-350g of fruit
Peeled and sliced apples are great for this recipe. You can also use frozen fruit.
Step 3. Add the Irish oats, muscovado sugar, ground flax seeds and spices
Step 4. Add 1 1/2 cups of cow or plant milk and 1 1/2 cups of water
Mix it well.
Step 5. Cook on Low for 7 hours
Serve the soup in a bowl with the help of a spoon.
Step 6. Add toppings such as chopped nuts, maple syrup, milk or dried fruit
Serve immediately. Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator. Reheat them just before serving.
