Getting through the school year can be challenging for many students. It can affect your self-esteem, family, friends, and even yourself. You are a student who has need help to cope with the stress of school commitments?
Steps
Step 1. Stick to your own routine
Sticking to a schedule can help students tackle one obstacle at a time, and thus take control of the situation. Buy a table at a store or make your own and hang it in your room. Write down everything you need to do to not forget your commitments.
Step 2. Make sure you get enough sleep
Students should sleep at least seven to eight hours a day to have the energy needed to help them cope with stressful situations. An adequate sleep cycle also helps decrease tension and irritability.
Step 3. Exercise regularly
Working out for at least thirty minutes a day can help you relieve stress and tension, and it will also benefit your self-esteem. Run on a treadmill, go jogging, or work out with weights.
Step 4. Try to relax
Listen to good music, soak in a tub, watch a romantic movie or meditate. Relaxing for at least an hour a day will help you get rid of the stress you build up throughout the day.
Step 5. Have fun
Take a step back and remember to have fun with your friends. A great idea would be to organize a study group. It could prove useful and fun at the same time.
Step 6. Stay calm
Don't put off studying until the last minute and then panic. This will only increase your stress level. Do things calmly and try to be consistent. Take some deep breaths! This will help you relax both emotionally and physically.
Advice
- While it may seem obvious, yoga is a great remedy. It helps you to exercise and also to relax. Meditation (the one that Buddhist monks usually practice, so to speak) is also very effective. Engage in either of these two activities right before bedtime, no matter how tired you may be. You will also be able to sleep more soundly.
- Learning to cope with stress will help students improve their quality of life and enjoy these once-in-a-lifetime years of high school or middle school.
- You will feel more relaxed both inside and outside the school.
- This method will also help you to take responsibility.
Warnings
- Do not you have to resort to drugs, alcohol or smoking. You would be doing your physical and mental health a great harm.
- Don't be afraid to say no if you are asked to overload yourself with more responsibilities than you can handle. At some point we all need to relax and rest when we can no longer cope with the accumulated stress.
- Leaving school is not an option.
- Do not give up.
- Try to finish all your homework at school so you don't have to go back to studying at home.
