If you can't go to dance class but still want to dance, this is the article for you. Step by step, the guide will tell you how to train in such a situation.
Steps
Step 1. Make yourself comfortable
When practicing at home, you don't need a tutu. Just wear a leotard and stockings if possible. If not, comfortable clothing, such as sweatpants and t-shirts, will suffice. The important thing is that they allow you to stretch and move freely.
Step 2. Stretch
Before you start dancing, you need to prepare your muscles. If not, you could get hurt or have muscle tears. You need to perform basic movements, such as the butterfly or spread your legs. Perhaps, look for videos of people stretching before a dance and imitation class. Never overdo the stretch (especially before dancing), this is not good for you.
Step 3. Turn on the stereo
This is an optional step. If you want to have a calming soundtrack that inspires you to dance, go for it. It doesn't have to be subtle - you can also listen to rock and roll. Any genre that allows you to dance and count steps is fine. Are you used to classical music? Excellent: it is the most suitable for training.
Step 4. Dance
Since you can't actually train completely safely at home, you prefer simple movements (such as poses 1 to 5). Search for ballet or dance-inspired workouts on the internet. You can also find some on wikiHow, with explanations on how to do them. Watch lessons on YouTube for exercise ideas. Remember not to do anything too complicated at home and alone, otherwise it would create bad habits that are rather difficult to eradicate. Plus, you risk injury. Are you already a dancer? Practice some movements you learned in class.
Step 5. Find a place to train
When dancing at home, you should have a space with a wooden floor and, if possible, a full length mirror. Usually, ballet schools have bars, mirrors and parquet. If you have an empty room, use it for this purpose. If you have enough space in the bedroom, train there, otherwise look for another free place. What matters is that you feel comfortable in the place where you train.
Step 6. Use an object that can replace the bar
Most schools provide for the use of this tool. You can easily make your own using wooden sticks or pipes. An alternative is to use a table and chairs. Search the internet for tutorials to make it. If you don't feel like doing such a job, you just need the back of an armchair or a table. An element that supports your weight and is well balanced is sufficient.
Step 7. Wear the right shoes
If you have ballet shoes, great. Socks are not a good substitute. Better to stay barefoot at this point. Never use tennis shoes or hard shoes, and no ballet flats. Don't be fooled by the name - they are not suitable for this purpose!
Step 8. Enjoy
Training at home must first make you feel good. Always feel free and make the most of these exercises, give your all. Remember that nothing is impossible: the important thing is to commit yourself and give your best.
