The belt is an important part of every washing machine. Basically it guides the motion of the unit where the clothes are removed and spun. If your washing machine makes a loud, rattling noise then the belt is probably worn or out of position. If the washing machine fills with water but does not move, the belt is probably broken. No matter what the problem is, these factors indicate that it is time to change the belt. Steps
Step 1. Before attempting to replace the belt, unplug the washing machine from the power outlet
Step 2. Check that your washing machine has an access panel
If it has it, it will probably be on one of the sides or more likely the back. You will need to remove it to replace the belt. If it does not have it, you will have to look for the belt from the bottom of the washing machine
Step 3. Once found, remove the washer access panel to make sure your model has a strap
Step 4. Once the belt is confirmed, cover the floor where the washing machine is located
In this way you will protect the area from the water that will come out of the washing machine
Step 5. Gently move the washer to one side once you have confirmed that your model works with a belt
Step 6. Find the strap, it is black in color
Step 7. Remove the pliers holding the rubber fittings, belt, and washer motor
Step 8. Slide the old belt out of the drive and motor pulleys
Step 9. Fit the new belt by sliding it onto the transmission and motor pulleys from where you removed the old belt
Step 10. Re-attach the rubber connectors and pliers to the new belt
Step 11. Put the washing machine back upright
Step 12. Plug the washing machine back in and test it to see if it works properly

- If you don't see the belt when you remove the panel or look underneath then your washing machine may have what is called a direct drive. You will need to call a technician to fix it.

- Make sure you have someone to help you move the washing machine to one side. It is heavy and it will be difficult to do without help.
